Stupidity, that is.

My printer will not print if one of the cartridges is low or empty, not even in black if a colour cartridge is low. Mine had a low cyan level. Off I go to get the refills and I top up the cyan. Insert the cartridge and go through all the printer diagnostics and there it is, working. I print off a job - letter, black - and all is well in the world.

Back to the kitchen to put the refills away and guess what, I have only topped up the cyan with magenta!

Our printer does that too, they're damned nuisance but you need one don't you.
So they're colourblind? - could you just buy black to put in each colour then?

Mine must be, and that sounds like a cute trick. As the cartridges are now kaput I will give it a go as I usually only print B&W letters.

If it works I'll buy you Pina Collapso one day.

You could try googling, usually get an answer to a straight question
I like to print photos sometimes but the cartridges are such a rip-off

my Epson printer said low on Black ink ,so i bought a new one-Epson- put it in and it still says i aint got any black ink

took it to my computer guy to have a look at it-can't find a fault but it don't work ,so binned it

They get more and more sophisticated and less and less user friendly. I can`t even refill the cartridges in my present one.
