that's the thing though Frank - I didn't. I had slightly more of the tomatoes and appless, but the vinegar I kept at the volume stipulated by the original recipe so if anything it should have been under?
What I think my problem was is that the pot I was using has quite a large base, bigger than the ring on the hob (electric ceramic) so I think there was an issue with not enough boiling away on the edges and only in the middle really.
As for the fat fella - he can make do with mince pies and sherry; the chutney (to go with the port and cheese) I'm keeping for myself
