When I lived in South London there was a whole road that did that Jo - admittedly not all the houses, but probably 70% of them. And they used to raise £thousands for the local hospice. Admittedly a nightmare to drive along but as it was a cut through most people either were happy to use it and make a donation or go the slightly longer way round. But it was fab

There was a TV programme on during the summer which had followed people who did their houses and gardens up for Christmas, sometimes alone and sometimes in groups. The whole thing seemed to take up a lot of spare time with patch testing, bulb changing, repairing, replacing and planning. Some of the results were works of art, and most of them took donations for charity.
