to find a good restaurant
Not much had changed in the restaurant, it was still a bit grubby and all they'd done was move the tables around But the bbq was on and there were a lot of people having take-aways too.
Good job we speaka da lingo though
We ordered and I overheard the "waiter" tell the chef what we wanted, which was uma mista de carne, um bife de peru e uma frango. Erm, no, we hadn't ordered frango and why would we, when there were only 2 of us, So I shouted over, as you do and got that sorted.
Then some English - who were very loud - and couldn't speak Portuguese, but did try - couldn't make themselves understood when they wanted salt, pepper and vinegar. So I told the waiter what they wanted, got that lovely little Portuguese tap on the shoulder and not a thank you from them. Grumpy said I shouldn't have said anything, but the poor lad just didn't understand them at all - and why would you need more salt when everything is already done for you?
And just before he plated up, the chef shouted over "arroz?" I shouted back sim, he shouted back dois? I shouted back sim.
But the meal was lovely, cooked to order, so we had to wait quite a while, but no probs. Half a litre of wine, bread, olives (no butter here or plates to put it on ) meal and coffee. 19.20€
We'll be going back
