What a horrible dark day - again!

I had plans, or so I thought, to meet up with two workmates for coffee....Glenda retired back in March so I haven't seen her since then, and Karen who is on hols this week. I text Karen when I got to the cafe, a 30 minute drive for me, she text back 10 mins later to say she was soooo sorry but they had re-arranged this and had met up on Tuesday, she'd completely forgotten that she'd invited me (truth be told, I invited myself LOL) but then lo and behold after I'd had a lovely ginger muffin and a latte in Costa, I bumped into Karen as she had gone to the same shopping outlet!! So we had a bit of a chat in the cold LOL.

Tom's had his injection and is now off until next THursday, he's supposed to be resting....

Happy birthday Billy!!

Have a lovely day all xxxx

PS could I please ask for some Come home Smudge vibes? This is deja vu.....

Hope you got on ok at the dentist's Jen.

I've walked my socks off today, in the end. I did my hoovering, got the washing on, then left instructions for B to tumble dry it for me and walked to town for the hair wax my hairdresser recommended for my new shorter style, plus some longer matches for lighting my candles after I nearly set myself alight with the horrid Swan ones I had in, I also got the bottle of red wine I needed to complete the Xmas pressie bag for one of Mick's brothers and family, then walked up to see D for a much needed chicken roll and cuppa for lunch  ;)

A bit tired for Pilates tonight, but I'll be fine once I get going - I felt the same about zumba last night but really enjoyed it once we got going - it was great fun dancing to all the Christmas songs :Hi:

Evening all, usual knackered Thursday evening! I tried to occupy Kellie a lot to take pressure off Mr Osc who still has a cold. She came to the post office with me and enjoyed posting all the cards, then helping me do a little shopping. After her sleep I brought her to the playground in a (vain) hope that she would burn off some energy. Michael was finished school an hour earlier than usual so he and Grandad enjoyed some quiet time together.

More or less all set for the wedding tomorrow, I will do my nails shortly and do my hair in the morning. The church is almost 1.30 hours away so we will set off not long after 11am as traffic could be heavy heading out of Dublin on a Friday and the ceremony is at 1pm. Back Saturday, then out Saturday night at a little Strictly Final evening. Dancing on Sunday. Comatose on Monday ;)

To Gillingham Station at lunchtime to witness the passage of a steam-hauled charter train bound from London to Sherborne for a Christmas Carol Concert in the Abbey. Around 60 ladies and gentleman "of a certain age" also present at the station to witness the spectacle. The special was right on time and stopped in the "loop" at the station for around 6 minutes to allow a Waterloo-bound train to pass.

Much noise and pyrotechnics on departure as the damp weather had made the rails greasy, and both locomotives - it was a double-header - "slipped" on departure - much furious churning of the driving wheels before they "got a grip".

Pure nostalgia! :D

Have a lovely weekend Osc! Hope Mr Osc feels better tomorrow xx

My parents lived by Hednesford station and their garden backed onto the railway line (we were there until I was a toddler) and Mom often talks about her washing being blackened by the soot from the steam engines :)
