A drunk, a druggie and a sexual predator - not such a loss.

Rich and famous due to his musical talent, yes; someone to look up to and admire as an individual, not a chance.

I think the first line of your post was unnecessary WM. :o

I saw George Michael in concert about 15 years ago and he was fabulous.

RIP.

You have to separate his private life from his enormous talent - I abhorred his lifestyle but loved his wonderful music and performance skills. Who knows what demons drove him, I wonder if he was ever truly happy.

I can't remember a year when so many famous people have died, especially when they died young, like George Michael.

I think it's true that he wasn't very happy. I remember that he crashed his car into the front of a bistro on Hampstead High Street a few years ago, and over the last few years he's kept a very low profile.

I agree with Ally, Frank, there's no need for that :o

Osc, I'm not sure if he ever was. Didn't he lose his mother and his boyfriend in the space of a few years in the 90s?

Love you lots Frank, but no need for that :? :o

We missed the news last night, so awoke to it this morning, both Mick and I very shocked. Heart failure was mentioned in one article I read, possibly a weak heart from the drug taking (who knows) but there will be a PM so it obviously wasn't expected.

RIP George xx

I discovered this morning also. Frank that was unnecessary.

I can't listen to A Different Corner or I Can't Make You Love Me today.....such a sad year for deaths. I know he had demons.....but he also had the best voice ever.

RIP George. xxx

Yes, I think his first boyfriend had HIV and I think it is possible that George never got over him, plus of course his mother dying too. Gal, I love A Different Corner, I generally don't pay a lot of attention to song lyrics but George Michael wrote amazing lyrics, he obviously poured a lot of himself into them.

Oh dear, I forgot that we are not to tell the truth and that we have to put the dead on pedestals so that we can worship them to the nth.

I did not like the man nor his lifestyle and his boasting about it, and I will not forget his numerous arrests and jail terms. You will all just have to accept me not joining in the lovefest, but that is the way it is going to be.
