Frank, I've just been out to the bin and it's a lot colder than it was the last couple of nights.

Sad news on the local news site. An 18 year old local lad was killed in a car crash last night on the road which borders the bottom of the common. Apparently the car left the road and hit trees. It's a horrible twisting country road and people drive far too fast along there. Last night was so cold too and with the rain we had it soon turned icy.

It's scares me so much that Joe wants to learn to drive once he's 17 in May (notice how I don't worry especially about Tom driving?). It also worries me that his friends are all starting to learn now.

How sad.

Jo - all 3 of my lads drive.

Conor rides a motorbike here in Spain.

I can't allow myself to fret as I'd drive myself mad with worry.

I say a 'please God look after them' every day. xx

The way we're trying to think is that if Joe drives and gets a car, then we're not putting our trust in him getting into cars driven by kids who we don't know that well. He'll be the one in control.

It's so very sad though. We've seen at close hand how something like this affects a family as Joan and Alan, our lovely neighbours at our old house, lost their teenage grandson when he was killed in a car crash. That'll be 10 years ago next month.

Jo I DO worry about B learning to drive - not about Chris as he's taken to it like a duck to water and is a very safe driver. Besides, he is a lot older. I would worry far more about a motorbike, but then I've been very unlucky and lost two family members on motorbikes, so probably have a skewed idea of risk with them :o

Group hug for us worried mums? ((((((((((((x))))))))))))
