'Stolen' from FaceBook, but fun....

Without revealing your actual age, what "something" do you remember, that if you told a younger person they wouldn't understand

my reply was proper 4 or 8 layered paper tickets for air travel (red carbon backed pages)

What would yours be?

That there used to be a queue outside of phone boxes of people waiting to use them.

Toys in packets of cereal that mum would not let you dig for (on pain of a slapped bum) when the packet was first opened.

Typing one of those wax sheets to put on the machine and turn the handle to get copies. If you made a mistake you had to put pink stuff on and wait for it to dry and type over it.

Also going down to the photocopy room and having to do a copy and put it in water (I think it was water) and then hang it up to dry.

Something that would be considered politically incorrect these days, the golliwog on top of the Golden Shred marmalade. It was a much more innocent time and I didn't for a minute think it was wrong, in fact we were encouraged to collect them and when we had enough we could send off for an enamel brooch. For us it was just a toy. I'm sure I read somewhere that Enid Blyton books have been edited.

How cold bedrooms could be, in houses without central heating. I've told my kids about scraping ice of the insides of windows, but I'm not sure they believed me! I didn't live in a house with CH until I was married.

Yes I remember the ice on the inside of the bedroom windows.
