but it could have been a lot worse.
I got on the flight from Limoges to Stansted knowing that there was to be a tube strike Sunday.
I arrived at Stansted and the biggest problem was finding a functioning toilet. Then I found the train was running a replacement bus service, again and I would not get my first class service....
So I headed back in and had some food and made a third attempt at the toilet which was successful. Fortunately as when I got out there was a queue again.
I did a lot of searching whilst on the bus and the services seemed to be running so I got to Liverpool street station and headed for the tube. I already knew that the Metropolitan line was closed to Baker Street so I went to the Central. The place was almost empty (unusual at 7:30 on a Sunday) and the trains were all on time and the stations manned.
I changed at Bond street for the Jubilee line and decided to keep going to Finchley Road where I could just walk across the platform for the next Metropolitan line. Which was only 2 minutes later.
Quick bus trip and I was back and only had to divert to the petrol station for some milk.
Just as well. It took over an hour to get from the Airport and it was going to take over 2 hours to bus from Liverpool street to my bus stop, with 3 changes.
All in all could have been much worse.
Although when I got in I found the Boiler has been dumping it's water on the kitchen work surface, has soaked my laundry basket and ruined the work surface. Paddling in cold water to sort it out is not my happiest time and the place was pretty cold with the heating only on frost protect.
Work tomorrow (today)... On the bike for certain with the strike.
Have a great day all.
