My friend Gez would like to know as she and her mum are going to have to de-clutter the family home and rather than just chuck things in the bin or skip, I wondered if it works nationwide.

Yes, google freecycle then you search to find nearest to you. Depending on area may need to join more than one.
Also try Streetlife, similar idea but more localised (there's one for our village).

I use both, usually with lots of success. It never ceases to amaze me just what some people will take off your hands

I'll let Gez know - she's back in England for the next month, as both parents are in hospital and should be out this week, and now have to live downstairs in the house, so a lot of clearing out to do.

Ton, also depends on what they're looking to declutter - there are quite a few charities that will collect bits and bobs to sell on in their charity stores, esp if it's furniture etc. Where do Gez's parents live - I can see if i can find a link or two for you if you want?

We were chatting at the week-end about what she can do and she's in fora lot of work, but will have been in touch with various charities, I'm sure.

Ton, one wow about Freecycle and Streetlife. I have used used both for getting and giving and there are a lot of time wasters out there. Gez will have to be open and honest as well as firm but fair.

For example, is she is getting rid of a table and someone is to collect at x time on y day she should not immediately close the offer down. If others phone up she should explain, but get their numbers for a return call if the there is a no show.
