Good morning Friday

Postby Ally » 20 Jan 2017, 06:49

Good morning. :D

It's the last day of the cold snap today - at 12 degrees that's freezing!  Roll on tomorrow for winter normality!

I'm having a coffee then off for a run - it's day 20 of my ab challenge and somehow I've worked my way up to 200. :o

It's our town's Saint's Day today (San Sebastian) so guess what? Yep. A holiday!   Shops, schools and banks closed. :D

I shall be at home until it's time for Friday night beers and tapas. :D :D

Have a great day everyone.

Morning Ally :) Have a good one xx

Off to Cheltenham in about half an hour, my appointment with the dentist is at 9am and the traffic can be heavy. Hoping she can just cement the crown back in! :?

Have a good day everyone xxx

Morning Ally, Kaz and everyone

A gorgeous morning and not as cold - only 0C this morning 8-) 8-)

Good luck at the dentists Kaz x

I'll be weeding this morning, once it's warmed up a bit and Grumpy will be finishing off the gate he made yesterday and fixing it too, hopefully.

I'll pick some carrots and add them to the stew we'll be having - again - tonight.

have a good day everyone, whatever you're doing xx

Morning all

good luck at the dentist Kaz and fingers crossed it's a quick (and cheap!) fix
Ally, 12 degrees is cold when you're not used to it; and I suspect that same as in South Africa, houses in Spain aren't necessarily built for cold, ie not much insulation etc? Do you have any form of heating or do you just have to grin and bear it?
Ton that is really cold - hope all your plants that you planted are fine?

Another rather nippy start to the day here today; -6 degrees and only warming up to about 5 or 6. I think we've got another 5 or so days of this. I'm going to head out into the garden tomorrow and lift and move pots about in the hope that if there are any snail / slug eggs they become frozen once exposed because the last few winters haven't been cold enough to do much natural pest control. Wonder if the birds would eat them? I could always put them out on a feeder?

Sort of usual work day for me - one boss is dropping his hours and going forwards not working Mondays and Fridays. But given he's 70 I think he's much more than entitled to heading off into retirement. Other boss (the awkward one) is having a knee op today so not in - bliss! :D

Well have a lovely day all and stay warm and dry xx

Most are okay, thanks Ria. But we've covered up a lot of plants, even the veggies. Oddly, the peas are okay, but cabbage, carrots, cauli and turnip do not like the extreme cold.

Only a few more cold nights, then we'll be back to about 5C, which is fine. We can uncover them.

Think we've lost all the hibiscus and the potato plant, but we'll cut them back and wait and see.

Hopefully they'll make it.... the hibiscus cope quite OK here in the UK and as said we do go down to -5 etc on a few occassions so hopefully yours will be fine
And same for the potato plants, but maybe start chitting some new spuds in the meantime so you can get them into the ground once it warms up?

Good morning all.

A frosty start here this morning, but the sun is shining brightly.

Good luck at the dentist, Kaz. I've never been very happy about going to the dentist,
probably due to some unpleasant visits to the school dentist all those years ago.

Have a nice day everyone.

My happiness knows no bounds - I'm just home from a lovely long run and the sun was warm on my face! I definitely like warm weather!

We have heating in the air conditioning units Ria - we haven't used it for at least 6 years but put it on Wednesday and last night. Don't think we'll need it tonight.

Aggers I had similar with a school dentist :(

Ria it should be a nice dry weekend for the garden, enjoy your boss-free day :)

Ton I hope it warms up soon, for you too Ally! Really extraordinary weather in Europe at the moment :?
