When we moved to Madeira flat screens were just becoming available and the price was ridiculous-so we had the last of the big bulky type

remove the plastic film -it's just there to protect the screen during transport. And it would hugely distort the picture if you leave it on

Remove, for the reasons Ria mentioned, plus it looks awful! Mick has a habit of leaving the plastic film on devices and it drives me mad - I remove them at the earliest opportunity
