Where's my blood pressure tablets?

Postby cromwell » 23 Feb 2013, 13:15

More kids being bred for the benefits they bring in; it's criminal, it really is.

I think my blood pressure went off the scale when I read that Ms Frost, a 37 year old mother of eleven, had never worked a day in her life.

Then I think it went higher when I read that the council is building her a new eco house to live in..

Why do politicians defend people like this? She is playing the system, anyone can see it. There are people in genuine need who can get very little, and lazy wasters like this whom the authorities just throw money at.

And she is still young enough to have a few more.... for when some of the others reach dole age.

Her criminality is shared by those PC excuseniks tasked with looking after public finances. She should have been 'housed' in an hostel with her benefits used to pay for it.

This is big news here in Gloucester (Churchdown is situated a couple of miles from here, between Gloucester and nearby Cheltenham) - as you can imagine

However, the DM is exaggerating somewhat (can you believe that?? ;) ) as this is actually going to be a fairly basic 'affordable housing' dwelling, not the luxury eco house we are hearing about..............Oh and the council have to house her somewhere, it is the law, for good or for bad, and by building this - on an estate with other affordable housing - they are freeing up the two council houses her family are currently occupying, so two other families will benefit!

Believe you me, I am not defending this woman, she is a nightmare - but it isn't quite as bad as the DM are painting it ;)

In my youth, if a woman (or girl), had children they could not afford nor support, then the children were put into care or up for adoption.

I know it's not a nice thing to do to a child, but it is the only way we are going to stop this. Because no woman will keep on having children if it means she loses them all and has a worse standard of life for it.

We used to have a phrase in Britain about being "cruel to be kind". Now apparently we just have to be kind. Well to everyone but those who can support themselves and make a life and a living and a home for their families. Those we're just cruel to....

Our basic values are now back to front and they won't change so long as we're signed into this human rights farce....

Crazy country we are living in.... The eldest should by this time be out working earning enough to pay for her horse and not the tax payer, also the publicity good bad or indifferent put a stop to the mother buying two more horses..It has been revealed that the mother has had cervical cancer so more children are unlikely, We can also consider the money being thrown at Polish women who return home to have their babies. The costs run into millions.

Oh my goodness, are you being serious-is this truly your solution? :o Do you propose this solution should only be applied to women who have children out of wedlock or are you proposing that everyone who has children and are on benefits should have the children taken into care?
You do realise that it costs a heck of a lot more to keep a child in care than it does to pay benefits, thus costing the taxpayer more, not less, cash?
You do realise that not everyone on benefits, with children, plan it that way-some cant afford to support their children because they have had to move out of abusive relationships, or have taken ill, or their partner has died, etc?

This woman in the DM is blatantly taking the mickey but I certainly dont believe she is truly representative of parents on benefits. I live in a poor area and know many parents who claim benefits and not one of them has a horse! Imo this woman isnt supporting her lifestyle solely by claiming benefits-I wouldnt be surprised to learn that the father of her children are paying her maintenance that she isnt declaring or she has an alternative source of income that she keeps quiet about.

If someone on benefits is blatantly taking the mickey like this then they should be required to account for every single penny they spend...we shouldn't choose to remove the children of those on benefits as a solution to someone else bucking the system.

Dad died leaving mum with three children all under the age of 16. The eldest, my brother, was physically and mentally handicapped and in a wheelchair. The situation we found ourselves in was not any fault of ours. Should we have been shipped out to homes? No!

Thanks to the 'not very old' welfare state we were 'allowed' to stay together and we mucked through, but it really was survival, not the high life. Today things are much different and have gone too far.

We really do need to stop giving young single mothers properties, be it houses or flats. If they cannot support themselves, or be supported by family and the father of the child, then hostels should be made available to them. We have to do something to stop them becoming serial single mothers.

We also have to stop paying out child allowance for every child. The country does not now need a growing population - the original reason for CB. CB should stop at some point, where that point is I am not sure, but tapering it off to end at three seems fair. It would certainly put an end to to mothers having a football teams' worth of children. I know that there are not the number of them that the DM would like us to believe, but there are more than enough with four, five or six and they are a drain on resources.

Obviously I'm not up for the Victorian "Do as I say not as I do", but we have to have some form of restraint.

Otherwise the only possible option is that more and more people move onto benefits until the entire system breaks down, the country runs into Greek style deficit and truly draconian measures have to be applied.

Who would want to go down that route? What thinking person would even countenance this for a second? Oh, let me think, those who believe that others should pay for them (one of my nephews was like this), no matter what they do or do not do, come what may.

This woman in the DM is blatantly taking the mickey but I certainly dont believe she is truly representative of parents on benefits

No I'm sure she isn't. She is just the glaring example of excess in a system which is already overburdened by the casual acceptance that young women can not bother with contraception and everyone else will just foot the bill. It's an attitude thing and the attitude is now that single, non working, mothers can just keep on having children and there are no consequences, except to their health.

You do realise that it costs a heck of a lot more to keep a child in care than it does to pay benefits,

Of course I do. I've been on benefits and I've been in and around the whole fostering/care situation with Mrs S work and friends who were part of the system. I'm not suggesting that EVERY child in this situation is taken into care. I'm suggesting that the sanction of care/re - home of children to irresponsible mothers (note not those who find themselves in the situation but those who put themselves in this situation), would reduce these numbers.

If we don't, eventually the country will run out of money to just give away. Oh I forgot, we already did that. But we keep on doing it.

What's your choice? Cut back the NHS and pensions, stop operations, put the elderly in poor houses, so that we can keep on paying ever more young women who think that endless children to endless fathers is a way of life?????

Personally I think that my approach is somewhat more enlightened. But then I would, wouldn't I. I'm extremely aware it's open to idiots in the government abusing it. But then they are the same idiots causing the problem today.

You have to DO something. We can't wind up like Sweden in the 90's. We're already in the EU and it would not be a salvation.....
