However, I am here to help with a pretend Haggis recipe you can make at home:
Upper of leather shoe finely chopped - eyelets removed. Brown if possible.
4 fl oz/125 ml water
1 finely chopped small onion
1 large egg
salt, black pepper, sugar, ground ginger, ground cloves, ground nutmeg. Quantities are to taste. (I suggest plenty)
Contents of bird cage tray (1/2)
Two handfuls of vacuum cleaner bag contents
1 balloon - any colour.

Mix everything together in a large bowl then find some way of filling it into the balloon. Tie and cook on a low simmer for three days.... keep topping up the water in the pan, you DO NOT want it to explode. When cooked slice the balloon skin and tip the contents in the bin. For those with environmental concerns please recycle the balloon in the green bin provided by your council.

Apparently you can eat it as it is very similar to the real thing.

Part of an EU plan to "regionalise" the UK Aggers. Under legislation passed by John Major after the Maastrict treaty, Scotland, NI and Wales were to have their own assemblies and England was going to be split into nine "regions", each with their own assembly. No English parliament for us.

It all went south in England when the Geordies voted down their proposed assembly; so we are left with the hotch potch that we have.

We live in interesting times. Ireland might or might not re-unite, Scotland might leave the UK. Indeed it's pretty obvious that the SNP won't stop until they get independence. So I just wish they could have it, say next week, and let them get on with it.

Another EU myth.

Issues regarding some form of self-rule or devolution outside of England have been going on at least since the inter-war years. They began a generation before any form of modern European unity - trade or political - was even thought about.

Even within England there had been numerous commissions down the years since WWII looking at devolving power to the provinces and then regional assemblies.

It was Wilson who started the ball rolling with assemblies for Wales and Scotland. Major then picked up the baton with his government office regions. They morphed into the unelected Regional Development Agencies under another unelected layer, the Regional Assemblies.

Blair came to power partly on the back of promises of devolved assemblies for Scotland, Wales, NI, and let's not forget Greater London, which came about in 1998. The rest of us, the English, however, had to suffer the unelected RAs till they were abolished.

Blair then tried for devolved regional assemblies with little or no powers, but the Geordies told him to go sit on one. With that the rest of the referendums were abandoned.
