My mam was christened Emily Jane but she hated it, she went by Jenny over the years or Jen, my dad called her.

Many people think my Jen (full name Jennifer) is named after her, but this isn't the case. I named her after Marty McFly's girlfriend in Back To The Future!! :D

My mother was Kathleen Theis (some saint or other, pronounced They-iss), she hated being called Kathleen and was always known as Kay - apart from my father's family who always called her Kathleen, blooming in laws

My Mom is Ivy Caroline.
She's never liked Ivy, and was surprised when I told her that it's becoming quite fashionable again. She was named after her mother's younger sister. Caroline is after her father's sister, Carrie. They later found out though that she was just Carrie and her name hadn't been shortened from Caroline :)

(Tom's middle name is Alexander, after Alex Ferguson. Not sure if John's yet realised that but I snuck in a suggestion of Alexander when he vetoed Eric and he agreed   )

My mum was called Sheila Pamela.

It's funny how names go out of fashion isn't it? We had lots of Pamelas at school (and Susans), but you rarely get girls with those names now.

Cromwell, it is. When I was at school Paula and Joanne were amongst the most common names (so I guess my parents got it right when they decided to give me a name that would make me fit in). Paula was their second choice for me. My best friend at school was also Jo. There were also quite a few called Julie, and that's my sister's name.
