What is happening contradicts the peacenik's world view and they can't bear it. So they major on hearts and flowers, ignoring as far as they can the certainty of the next attack and desperately trying to suppress and ignore points of view or emotions they don't want to confront - like justifiable anger.

We already have a law which allows us to "vanish" people for a month. They have a target. What are they waiting for?

Ah, I forgot. The massive legal cases for anyone who is not involved but is incarcerated under the law.

If May wants to do one single thing to help reduce the number of incidents she can pass a law that guarantees immunity from prosecution, to the security services, for using that anti terror law to incarcerate suspects. Far more effective than beating up the technology companies. Far more damaging to our freedoms.

So there is the crux of it. May could allow us to prosecute Anti Terror rapidly and efficiently. To do so she'd have to put every one of us at risk of simply "vanishing" for a month.

I'd love to see that debate. Perhaps people would take a step back and realise just how constrained the security services are. By us.

Ah Crommers, now you know that you took his remark out of context...

Should you chose to believe it..

May has come in for quite some stick today regarding her oversight of the reduction in police numbers of 20,000. There have even be calls for her to resign, and although Corbyn mildly supported them it was not he nor Labour who set them off. That honour goes to David Cameron's former aide, Steve Hilton, ex chief of counter-terrorism, Jim Gamble, Shere Khan and the head of the Police Federation. It was also noticeable that Met Commissioner, Cressida Dick, when interviewed on Sky News, was critical of the way the Met is now having to deploy its stretched resources.

May had many detractors, and probably made a few powerful enemies, during her lacklustre time as Home Secretary and it is looking like a few chickens are coming home to roost.

There is an extraordinary article on the front page of the Telegraph today. it suggests very strongly that not only were the killers known to the police, the intelligence services had actually tape recorded them planning the attack last month.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/06 ... or-attack/

If true, this is not going to look good. What also doesn't look good os that is a massive story and there is a black out on it by the TV news.

Not only that but some of the killers had been photographed praying in front of a black isis flag and had actually appeared on a channel four documentary, The Jihadis Next Door.

I've had to turn the news off again. The vigil was an orgy of platitudes, cliches and self congratulation, especially that bit by Shortarz Khan.

I said earlier in this thread that there were well over 20 Islamic mosques in Birmingham.

I now find that that was a gross understatement. vis.....

Oh dear!

If the census figures are to be believed that is ~800 worshipers per mosque. If only two mosques are at the extreme end of Islam that is 1,600 potential 'radicalised' individuals. If only 1% actually become radicalised that is 16. That sounds like a manageable number, but wait. If the statistics are near then each one will have three close friends and about a dozen 'mates' all of whom could be influenced by the original 16 and who could go on to radicalise others.

It does not take long for the network to grow to unmanageable proportions, and that is just Birmingham.

It shows just how difficult it is for the police and security services to keep track of what Nigel Farage rightly called a 'Fifth Column' in the UK.

There are roughly 1,700 Mosques in the UK for 3 million Moslems. Or one for every 566 Moslems. As of 2015 there were 50,700 churches/congregations in the UK. In the last census there were 64m people recorded and 85% defined themselves as Christian. Or one church for every 931 Christians.

The numbers of Mosques grow every year, so the chances that we get more radicalisation is growing. As Islam is very much like Catholicism was a three centuries ago (namely that you were born into it and there was little or no way out), this number of Mosques will continue to grow, as will the number of Moslems.

If this were "just" a faith based thing, then it would not be a problem. But it is not. Islam believes that it should run the country via Sharia Law. Also radical Islam (growing), believes that all other faiths are heresy.

I must admit the irony of losing the communist threat to global domination and replacing it with a faith based threat to global domination does not fill me with joy. Even the communists were, essentially, realists. Religious fanatics would rather blow the world up than submit.

You know those situations in life where the only good answer is not to have done something in the first place; because the cost and pain of fixing it is almost more than you are willing to bear????
