I always try and remember what someone said not too long ago - that opinion polls are increasingly not being used to reflect how people intend to vote, but to try and influence how they vote.

There is only one poll that matters and that one is on Thursday.

I thought that public polls had to be open to scrutiny on raw data, methodology etc.?

I am not saying that their interpretation is not used to try to influence us, but if that is the case then it has spectacularly failed for quite a few recent elections.

I was musing more on how this looked very much like the US presidential election charts. Where a sea of Republican red would be overwhelmed in a state by two blue blocks in major cities.

Most of England is blue on this chart yet we are talking about a hung parliament or a small Tory Majority. It speaks a lot about the Urban vote.

Tory shires v Labour heartlands. At least most of the constituencies are roughly the same size, electorate wise, at around 70,000.

I shall be glad when it's all over. I'm fed up with reading articles in the press which are
put in to try and influence who one is to vote for.

One thing is certain --- whichever party wins, nothing positive will be done to deal with
the problem of Islamism in this country. So it really doesn't matter who gets in.

It's all rather depressing.

Whilst I am not overly interested in the English vote, I am intensely interested I the change in the political dynamics in Scotland. SNP, never with much more than 5 Westminster seats prior to the Scottish parliamentary devolution; with 40% of the vote and the Tories outpolling Labour.

If you follow Scottish voting history this is incredible.

Well we have less than two days to go now. The only real poll left is the on Thursday. I shall be watching how it goes.

It is at times like this that I am forever grateful that the only live broadcast TV I watch is Tennis. Even the TV serial broadcast; I either record or pull down the US TV recordings from the web.

As such I only touch whatever news I want on the web in written form I'm not bombarded with verbal drivel.

Finally an article which puts the position I have had all along about this election.

Even then the article makes much of the Green candidate in Twickenham and the 2,453 votes, without mentioning that the UKIP candidate garnered 3,069 votes, many of whom are likely to vote Tory.

In short then, you could really call this 'the Ukip election'. The key question appears to be how many Ukip voters in these marginal seats turn out on the day and how many of those that do decide, as most analysts have expected all along, to throw in their lot with the Tories.

If they do, Mrs May is going to have a pretty good night.

Whatever happens the night is not likely to flow the way the polls are predicting. I'd be happy with May returned with 5 more seats and a new Manifesto. Conversely I'll also be happy with a Labour win. I won't have to live the mess they make of the UK and the mess they make of Brexit will make my life much easier.

The two viewpoints are causing a bit of conflict in my mind.
