Could Trump be impeached?

Postby Workingman » 08 Jun 2017, 11:11

Democratic Senator Al Green thinks so . He is starting the proceedings but is holding off until the Senate Intelligence Committee completes its current investigations.

I think it's almost inevitable it's going to happen. But I suspect it won't be until after the mid-term elections .....

They have to set up a special investigator and then get the report. Then the house has to vote on it and then the Senate would have to have the impeachment vote.

Right now the Republicans hold all three arms of government. The best the Democrats could hope for was to come to a point after the mid terms when, maybe, the Republicans lose control of the House and or, Senate.

Worst case for the Democrats would be to trigger impeachment and be slaughtered at the mid terms by enraged Trump supporters... Which is, by no means, impossible.

I suspect it will go very slowly indeed.

Yes, it is a long process, but from Green's interview it sounds as though he is getting the paperwork in order and putting his dominoes in a row then sitting back to see what happens.

I actually do not think that Trump cares. He can go straight back to his businesses knowing that he has stirred the cauldron. He won't have so much as drained the swamp, it will be more like him bringing up the bottom feeders into the light of day. They will not like that, but he will love it.

If it does come to impeachment he will drag it out to the last second, and in the process name names, then he will resign at the 11th hour and walk away, as others have done.
