Wonderful service.

I am quick to find fault or moan about services but i must give praise for this.
I have still got a UTI in spite of the fact that the sample came back clear last week.
I felt so awful yesterday that i went round to the Urgent Care clinic that our surgery
has opened. You have to wait but are guaranteed being seen either by a Doctor, Locum
or Nurse Practitioner. I was seen by the latter and what a wonderful, thorough and sympathetic
person she was. She took BP, Pulse, Temperature and then examined me.
She says i have an irregular heartbeat that noone else has picked up on.
I had to book a Blood Test for this morning and take a sample round.
She has booked me a ECG for the 18th.
She phoned an hour ago to say that my sample showed an infection again and she had
left me a prescription for AB`s. I have to go back at 5pm to get the blood test result as
it will be back then as she marked it urgent.
I call that over and above what usually happens and the Surgery is lucky to have such a
caring person.

that is good Lissie - and I do think that you very often get a lot more care from the nurses / nurse practitioners that you would from many GP's

Hope the AB's kick in very soon and fingers crossed you feel better soon. And if I may suggest, depending on how long the course of AB's is maybe go back with another sample before the course is finished and make sure the infection has cleared up, if not ask for a continuation course. Often the courses just aren't long enough to really hit the infections on the head and they go away a bit but then flare up once you stop the medication.

That does sound like wonderful service Lissie, and a little care and kindness when we feel poorly goes a very long way, doesn't it? xxxxx
