Morning Ally and everyone

Holiday here too :D and a lovely chilly wind this morning

Watering done, pool to be done, as we have guests arriving in a couple of hours.

I need to get the house cleaned and then meet Jenny and Kelly down at the bar - far easier to give them directions to there and then we'll bring them here. Coffee and chatting, then they normally have lunch, so we're off to the Palma or Mundial in Ourique. As we don't normally eat lunch, we'll just have soup as the main course. Then back for more catching up. Known them for about 11 years, down in Fuzeta, and there will be a lot of catching up to do ;)

Have a good day everyone, whatever you're doing xx

Morning all :)

Your plans sound good Ally 8-)

Enjoy your company Jan :)

Well we have sunshine, bit nippy though so hoping it will warm up a little! No zumba, as I went last night, and D is away in Weymouth. Mick and I popped up there last night to water the greenhouse and check everything was ok. I have some washing to get out, and might well walk up to Sainsbury's later, as we are low on milk.

Have a good day everyone :) xx

Good morning, all.

It's a bit more summer-like here this morning, so we are off on a walk into town soon.

Hope you all have a nice day.

Good morning all. Enjoy your catch up Jan and your walk Aggers.

A lovely morning here but I think some of the trees are just starting to turn.

And with a rousing chorus of "Oh I do like to be beside the sheepside..!" We're off.

See you all in a few days, have a lovely day today.

Morning everyone

Well, an unexpected day at home today. Got to the station at 7am, on my way had heard on the radio that there were some delays because of a points problem, but when I got to the station it turns out that on top of said points problem a train had derailed just outside Waterloo so trains weren't getting through.

Came back home and monitored for a bit and then spoke to my boss once he was in and he said to stay home as it is really quiet and not worth the aggravation of trying to get in; never mind hoping to get home later. I'm not complaining

So here we are... will spend the day monitoring my work emails whilst pootling about the house

Have a lovely day all, Cromwell - have a fab time away. Jan enjoy the visitors

God afternoon everyone. Sunny intervals here.

To Shaftesbury this morning for shopping, including buying a blood pressure monitor (£49), as the GP wants me to provide a week's worth of results for her. It's an upper arm one which is supposed to be more accurate than a wrist one, and in any event my existing wrist one is well over 15 years old. I don't mind doing this monitoring exercise for our current doctor - she treats me pleasantly, and talks to me as a person, and not as a sub-human specimen to be lengthily lectured, which is a welcome change from the GPs at our last practice in Birmingham.

Whilst Mrs O was browsing, I wandered up to Tescos as they have a gurt big store up there which is walkable from the town centre and I can source various items that Waitrose used to stock, but now don't. I like Waitrose, but they do have this tendency to chop certain lines without warning - it was the same in Birmingham where they used to sell a Tagine sauce, but suddenly stopped. Memo to self - must ensure stockpile of tinned haggis.

Tomorrow is the big local agricultural show and a tent city has sprung up seemingly overnight at the Turnpike Showground, halfway between Gillingham and Shaftesbury. It promises to be mayhem on the roads, so we'll probably avoid it, although they are running special buses from both towns. SSE have just fitted the new LED lights in our street, and they have used the existing cabling and lamp-post holes (although they have changed the posts to make them nearly a third taller than the old installations). A much slicker operation than when they did the same thing up in Birmingham - that was a three-ring circus and we lived with trenches for weeks! At the same time Dorset CC are spot-repairing the estate spine road, so there's workmen everywhere. Great fun watching the modern hi-tech road-roller - as a kid, I was always fascinated by the old steam-rollers that they used to use on the asphalt. :D

Enjouy your day at home, Meriad!!

Evening all. Another day when I was up and out early as I had to bring the car for its service. I dropped it off just after 10am and walked to the nearby shopping centre to pass the few hours. I had a bag of clothes and some nice handbags that I was bringing to the charity box in TK Maxx but on my way I was walking past an Irish Cancer Society shop and decided to leave them in there instead. It was a very good shop, well laid out and I bought two teeshirts. Then on to the shopping centre, where I passed the time by mooching around the shops, bought stuff in Boots, had phone conversations with my brother and a friend, and lunch in Starbucks. I went back to collect the car, got some petrol, collected my new reading glasses and finally got home around 4pm. Long day.
