Public Transport

When we go on a cruise we go to Southampton by coach. Much more relaxing than driving.
We get on the coach at a local bus station.
This has now closed as a new one has been built near the existing railway station.
Went this morning to have a look where the new coach pick up point is. It is at least one hundred yards from the nearest taxi rank. Imagine trying to take three cases and two trolleys that distance. Only buses and coaches are allowed on the new bus station.
At the old bus station we only had to go about four yards.
So we are now going to another pick up point on a motorway service area. It is nearly the same distance but in a different direction.
The new bus station is an improvement on the old one if you are using local buses but not by coach with lots of luggage.
Can see bad comments being made about this.

But in all seriousness, if it works for the majority of people then agree I don't see many bad comments being made about it. Have you thought about contacting the coach company you use to see if they have any ideas / input because there probably will be others who may need a hand with luggage; esp elderly or disabled?

Yes, I suppose it was designed for the needs of the majority who aren't going to be dragging suitcases so I would expect that the everyday public transport user will be happy about having a new facility and have less reason to complain.

In fairness, I have to say that the main bus station in Dublin is all about long distance buses, so I can see Cruiser's point about a taxi not being able to drop you nearby. I think it's a valid complaint, especially when you are not so young any more. Hopefully the new pickup point will work out ok for you.
