It does make you wonder how many would pass if they had to retake their tests. Not sure what it's like in the rest of the country but driving standards around here are dreadful. Stopping at red lights seems pretty much optional nowadays.

I would ace it, even today.

I stick to speed limits, I use all my mirrors all the time, I indicate, I wear a seat belt, my phone is ignored, I flash to let people in or out of junctions and I give a wave or a flash to people who help me and others to keep traffic moving.

But if you tailgate me then expect to be following the slowest and widest mobile roadblock on the planet.

You know who you are Mr Audi, Master BMW and Ms Mercedes.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that a breach of the Highway Code? You're supposed to flash as a warning that you're there, only.
I know it's pretty common practice (and I do it), but technically, in the driving test, would that be a failure point?

On an unrelated matter, now the clocks have gone back, not dipping your headlights on country roads when cars are approaching you the other way should be a hanging offence, let alone a breach of the Highway Code ....
About 1 in 10 don't bother down here, and it's bleddy annoyin'.

Technically, probably yes, but that was why I was saying that Joe starts learning now.

We have two heavily trafficked local roads where there are times when it would be impossible to turn right in or out of a side road unless other drivers gave way and a flash of lights lets everyone know your intention to give way and let someone in or out.

Other examples are a flash of lights to let a bus pull away from a stop, or a double flash to tell a long vehicle that it is safe to pull in when it has overtaken you or putting 4way flashers on when traffic in front unexpectedly slows or stops, especially on fast roads, dual carriageways or motorways.

None of them are in the highway code but even the police use them
