More subsidies.

More of our money to be spent on harebrained schemes to support the "private" energy sector. This time it is for palm oil and wood pellets - biofuels. More imports. You could not make it up.

These stupid MPs are micro-managers who never look at the bigger picture. If the presentation sounds good then the idea must be good; and so they run with it. Once that decision is made no amount of evidence to the contrary is considered.... or at least not until it is too late.

We then pay again for the clean up.

It's gesture politics WM, pure and simple. At one time it was proposed for biofuel to be used in a local powerstation. They were / are growing stuff near us for it. One of my ex-colleagues used to work in the electricity generating industry and tells me that a massive field of biofuel plants would be used up in a few minutes, tops.

It is not a viable proposition, it's insanity. Plus the more land you give over to biofuel, the less land you have to grow food...

That is why the fuel will be grown overseas and imported. They'll cut down the trees and put them in a tree crematorium.... to paraphrase Jonil.
Drax will burn more wood than the entire output from the UK’s timber industry

And still the MPs think it's a good idea to throw our money at it.
