<<Kaz>> I can understand your worries, especially as C. sounds like a typical bloke and doesn't want to be fussed over ....

Best thing for now, just keep regularly in touch with him?

<<Kaz>>, I know you'll worry no matter what. It is a parents job to worry for their children. When Mrs S had her op this summer they sent her home and she had to call the nurses here in France. She had two weeks of the same injections just to avoid clots. We paid the nurse direct.

I guess the nurse visits would be if he was unable to inject and unable to get to the doctors easily. I must admit to being somewhat bemused that they would give someone quantities of needles and syringes and then encourage them to self inject. Hardly something which was encouraged in years past.

The funding in the NHS is somewhat bizarre and I assume this is one of the ways they have "invented" to claw back some cash. Not quite what I would have thought sensible.

If he's capable and diligent about looking after himself, then you don't need to worry so much. However if he's not then I'd be calling too.

Don't worry too much. Just enough.

Thanks Suff :)

I've just got off the phone with him, and was ta!king to him whilst he gave himself the first shot! It's not so much needles, syringes etc as self-contained units. You draw it back until it clicks, pull a fold of tummy flesh and push against it, then press! He was fine, very relieved to have managed it and feeling much happier! As do I now, knowing he'll be able to do it.

I'll still be ringing though! ;)

Sorry Kaz, only just caught up with this.

Such a huge worry for you. As Suff says, we worry about our children no matter what age they are. They're still our children :)

Glad he was able to do the injection himself.

Presumably he'll be going back to the doc/hospital for another check-up?

Sending you a huge sunshiney hug xx
