Thanks all, we've been texting all morning and he's seen the doctor who has said that he can have his drain removed and could possibly be discharged later today. He's had Weetabix and toast for his breakfast - I had my op on the Thursday and was only allowed ice chips until the following Tuesday! How things change!
Jan, the surgeon is fab! He's a big Indian guy who is full of personality.
If he'd just listened to the paediatrician we saw back in April then Joe would just have had his gallbladder removed on her recommendation but he felt that it was his spleen that was causing the problems so ordered extra scans etc and he was right! Joe would've seen no improvement in his health whatsoever with just his gallbladder gone. While he had some stones they weren't causing any problems as yet but he decided it should be removed anyway as a preventative measure.
