Been a long day

Postby Osc » 13 Dec 2017, 19:16

We were up at 5am for our 8am flight to East Midlands but I woke at 3am and didn’t really sleep after that. Also my tummy was dodgy, in the end I took an Imodium while on the plane. The flight was delayed by an hour but at least we knew we had plenty of time in hand. Dee’s brothers and sister were on the flight too so we met up while going to collect our respective hire cars. The funeral was in a place called Market Bosworth so Mr Osc had looked up somewhere to eat there. We thought it was a pub but it turned out to be a rather nice white tablecloth type restaurant so we treated ourselves to a nice lunch although I still wasn’t feeling the best so did not enjoy it as much as I could have.

The church was fine, the whole mass thing leaves us cold, but the crematorium was tough. I was crying and Mr Osc told me afterwards he just couldn't look or talk to anyone or he would have been crying too. There was some kind of food laid on in a club where they live but we said we would head back to the airport as the car was due back at 6pm so we really only had about an hour to play with.

So we are at the airport now, have had something to eat and are just sitting waiting, flight not for two hours. Can’t wait to get home to my warm house and cosy bed - very glad we made the effort to travel though, his wife was so pleased to see us.

Osc, a very long and trying day for you both, and I'm sure it meant a lot to your friend's wife, you travelling all that way.

Safe flight home to you both (((((x)))((

Glad it went OK, Osc, but certainly can understand it was a long and difficult day for you both.

I know Market Bosworth reasonably well, and, under different circumstances, it would have been a nice place to have had a little look around.

Hope you've made it back home by now ...

Very long day Osc and a hard event to go to on top of that without a pleasure for all that effort. However that level of kindness and concern always helps the grieving family.

I hope you're warm and recovered now.

A long day and an emotionally tough one Osc. Di does find the right words, it's true. I'm glad you are home safe and sound.
