A patronising Christmas

So it's not just me..... this thing will snowball now.

Snowball... winter... Christmas. Get it?

We have a small Christmas tree which we bought in Harrogate many years ago as we were still working. It is in the front window. We put lights on it. Also have a large battery operated steam engine with Father Christmas driving it and some elves in the cab as well. Bought it in Vigo in Spain this year when we were on a cruise.
We also have a small crib which we have bought in Germany when we went to one of the Christmas markets. You don't see many of them now.

Very little going up in our house for Christmas. We have French friends over for a meal on Thursday then we head for Switzerland for a week in a Chalet on the Friday. Webcams show a foot of so of snow, although it is 802m up so you would expect that.

When we get back we will go to a French New year event then we head for the UK on the 3rd and Mrs S is staying with #1 son for 3 months in Scotland. Nobody wants to be spending the first two days in the house pulling down Christmas decorations, this year.

Kirstie and Nigella both irritate me, regardless of the time of year

We've got a 6ft fake tree in each of the living rooms, and we 'borrowed' a small fir tree from on the old quarry which is now potted and outside the front door with a string of lights on.

When we moved in here, we inherited a 2ft 6 fir inna pot at the front of the house. We manhandled it round the back, but during the summer it really suffered (lack of water) and started to wilt. So we planted it right in the corner of the back garden, out of the way, and it's started to thrive again.

Back in October, we were offered a 4 ft fir by the guy who mows our lawns. He said another client of his had planted it in his own garden 6 months earlier, then decided he didn't like it and now wanted it out! So we said yes, and it dury arrived in the back of his van, and successfully filled a gap in the back hedge. We've strung solar-powered outdoor lights on it for Christmas .....

We've got over 30 trees in the field and garden and I'd love to drape some of them in lights. Would look stunning
