Good morning all.

It's rather dull here, but we're not going out. I shall be busy today wrapping up all my wife's Christmas presents.
Someone's giving a piano recital in our Owners Lounge at midday - plenty of the good old songs of yesteryear,
when we can all have a bit of a sing.

It won't be long now, will it?

Enjoy yourself.

Morning all :)

Bright and sunny here :D

Enjoy your works outing Ally.

Agree Lissie, family feuds are stupid. E's family have never really accepted him marrying me, we were told it would never last..........44 years ago  I was divorced with two small children and E was very young, 21 the day after the wedding, so I do get they were concerned but...... We've had a very on/off relationship with them over the years, his stepfather died just over 20 years ago and it was us who stepped in and helped. We made a point of including his mother in every family occasion and even paid for her to have a holiday, but for whatever reason, and I honestly don't know what it was this time around, she cut us off again about 8 years ago. E still sends her a Christmas and birthday card each year, but not a word. He has two brothers and a sister, Linda is the only one he hears from, usually on his birthday and at New Year. In all honesty I can't be bothered with it all, but I do feel for him, they all know about his health problems and have never sent good wishes, absolutely nothing!!

We're off out to the cinema later to see Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Very excited, the reviews are brilliant and everyone we know who's already seen it say it's the best yet.

Have a good day :)

Afternoon all,

I was going to reply earlier (after Jan), but work and a not happy home PC got in the way.

Jen, I identify with you very much. Mrs S was Divorced with 4 children and I was divorced with 2. Day of the wedding I was 25. The only people who gave us more than 6 months were the kids and very close friends. We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary this year.

The difference, I guess, is that my mother capitulated after about 7 years so relations there are good. Mrs S is very popular with my fathers family (London based) and my Mother is not. As for the Scots side? Feuding all the time so not much loss there.

Most feuds within families are stupid. What we've noticed in ours is a few funerals and a few weddings and things can thaw to a remarkable degree.

Today? Mrs S has hurt her back and is resting before heading out to get #1 Daughter and #1 Grandson from the airport. I'm working in my office as well as cleaning the thing. It only happens about twice a year so I'd better get on with it.

I've just triggered a return on my new graphics card I bought in November. It failed making my whole "fix the PC" experience that much more difficult. So hoover in one hand, Bluetooth headset on and mobile in pocket, I will be doing two jobs today.

Have a great day all.

John always says that throughout his childhood they'd stay with relatives in Norwich, after they'd moved up here for his Dad's job, and there'd be family who they'd stay with again and again but suddenly all contact would stop and they wouldn't see them for a long time, because his mother would've fallen out with them over something.
She's not spoken to her sister in law for a few years now. P is such a lovely lady, very kind and generous and not at all confrontational. Anyway her husband (mother in law's brother) had cancer and was undergoing chemo which was making him really poorly. Mother in law did her usual trick of inviting herself to stay with them and took offence when P said that it really wasn't a good time for them with M being so ill and not feeling up to having a visitor so could she stay elsewhere. There was a big argument and mother in law hasn't had a good word to say about P since, that was probably 10 years ago now.

Good afternoon :) It was nice having my brother overnight and he headed off to Cork around 10.30am. Then I left Mr Osc to the golf club and went to reurn something to TK Maxx and buy a small roasting tin - came out with two tins...plus a pair of Ecco walking shoes which retail at €150 and I got them for €47, it would have been rude to leave them there :x Bought a few bits in Boots, had tea and a cinnamon bun in Starbucks and then came home. I've been trying to motivate myself to do some ironing but I have failed  maybe tomorrow........
