Turkeys in France

Postby Suff » 21 Dec 2017, 11:19

Because we're having a traditional Christmas meal for our French friends, tonight, Mrs S ordered a Turkey from the butchers.

Yesterday she went to pick it up. We're talking a 9kg turkey here. She asked me how much. Knowing France, I started high, €35 said. Then we started. €50? No. €75. NO? €90? Yes.

The world of ordering poultry the French don't usually sell....

Crikey, was it stuffed with truffles?

 You'd have done better smuggling one over from the UK, wouldn't you?

It is not easy to get Turkey here in France. Poultry is especially expensive. Roast chickens from the supermarket come in €12 to €14 prices and it's about the same size as a £5 Morrisons one. Even chicken on the shelves is expensive.

Cheaper to eat just about any other meat than poultry here.

There are other benefits, of course... 8-) 8-)
