Good Morning Christmas Eve

Postby JoM » 24 Dec 2017, 06:41

Good morning all, it's still dark out but it's dry so I'll walk Billy in a minute.

Lots of cooking to do this morning and some cleaning too, then this afternoon we're all off to the pub down the lane. We usually go at night but Joe doesn't like how busy it gets - and I'm with him on that, last year we could barely get through the door and it was no fun.

Have a lovely day all!

Morning Jo, Ally and everyone

Sunshine and clouds here, with more rain forecast for later :Hi: :Hi: :Hi: We had some at the back of the house, but nowt at the front this morning 8-)

I'll be doing all the prep for tomorrow and trying to find some sparkely things for the table. Think they'0re in the battery store, but not sure

Off to Antonia's tonight.

As our bar is shut on Sundays, we met our friends yesterday and what started out as a quiet drink ended up rather a long and boozy time   8-) and now Jan and Joachim are coming up after their lunch tomorrow, for a drink or 3 8-) 8-)

Have a great day everyone, whatever you're doing xx

Morning all :)
Dull and drizzly, very mild.

Good job I was up early!
Blood tests are every Monday, of course they're shut tomorrow and Tuesday, so the at home service was booked for me, for boxing day.
Nurse phoned yesterday to say they're too stretched and would I mind them coming Christmas day. Fine with me.
Eight this morning there's a knock on the door and a smiley chap announced he was here for my blood!
Oh well, all done and no-one coming tomorrow.
They're also booked for New year's day so I'll have to be up!

We have very little to do today :)
There is some cricket to watch later, and chicken wings for dinner.
Must remember to get the beef out of the freezer tonight :)
Hope you all have a good day
x

I've just been into Ourique to gt another turkey :o :o

That one I bought was rank, so it went into the bin. I didn't have the receipt, so couldn't try and get the money back. But spoke to the butcher anyway and he will arrange a discount next time I'm in.

We now have a slightly smaller turkey, but no worries.

Morning all. That sounds like a good day Ally. Jan, I remeber going down the road to the shops as a kid. It was chucking it down at the shop 100 yards from the house, where it was bone dry! We're like you Di, a very quiet day here.

Jo, have a good time down the pub!

All the shopping has been done, all the presents bought - I think it is staying in today, a light main meal and then we're all piling up to daughter's tomorrow for Christmas dinner. :D

Morning all!

Sat in Sainsbury's cafe at the moment, as I forgot to get bananas and sugar! House all cleaned and looking as tidy as it can with two dogs and four adults in it  Chris arriving this afternoon. Turkey defrosting, I am making an easy tea of quiche, jacket spuds and salad, folled by apple crumble (hence the dash out for sugar :? ) so all in hand, at the moment  8-

Have a wonderful Christmas Eve everyone! xx

Morning all :)

Bright and sunny here and E says it's quite warm.

Good to get the bloods over and done with Di, means you can enjoy tomorrow without any interruptions x

Normally do a special dinner Christmas Eve, but this year it's a big tray bake from M&S, meatballs and pasta plus garlic bread. We'll wash it down with some bubbly, no effort spared here

No other plans for today, everything's done and we're officially in holiday mode :D

Have a good day :) :)

Afternoon, the head chef is busy today doing prep for tomorrow - I am commie chef, washer upper and general dogsbody. I've cleared the current ironing, there is more washing on but nothing that is needed. I've been out to the shops, also wanted to deliver a little gift to people who have recently moved in nearby but some of their blinds were still down so I'll wait till later. Met Miss Osc and family out for a walk, Michael on his bike and Kellie on her scooter. I bought some nice flowers which I've arranged, I love flowers - someone might bring some tomorrow, but I wanted to make sure we had some.

The head chef has stuffed and tied up the turkey, which he boned last night, and the ham is in the slow cooker. He has also made a lovely looking salmon and smoked salmon terrine which we will have tomorrow while opening presents before dinner. Currently he is making a pavlova, is planning on a cinnamon creme anglais with the egg yolks and then will do some mashed potatoes, we will have some tonight with some ham and the rest is for tomorrow. I'm having a cuppa now, and will do the dusting and maybe set the table.
