Thought we'd eat early, oven on, steamer on. All looking good.

Went to cook mushrooms, looked at steamer - no steam

Guess who forgot to put water in it And it had been going for 30 minutes

I'0ve let it cool down and just tried it. All working nicely

But no veg with our dinner

oops indeed... glad it didn't burn out; but would have thought it should have an auto cut off if there is no water to heat up?

Hope dinner was OK without the veg?

I can't get to grips with my "new" steamer! I say new, but actually it's been in its box ever since we first got it, as a present, years ago! I decided we really ought to be using it, but it doesn't seem to get enough steam up somehow!

It's an electric Slimming World one, whereas before I just used the colander type that stacks over a saucepan of boiling water

I decided a long time ago they looked too complicated for me, plus take up a lot of space which we don't have

Agreed! It's gone back in its box, and will probably go to a charity shop

And you gain cupboard space

I love my steamers

I normally go for the 3 tier, which squish down to a single tier.

Much better tasty veg

I'll still use my old one, that goes over a saucepan
