I'm at the academy today from 9 - 9. I want to mark last night's papers, get everything set up for this afternoon's/evening exams and get some writing prepared.

I'm going out for lunch with a colleague so it makes sense to just be there rather than walking home to go back again later.

Guess what it's raining.

A long day Ally but worth it, and a nice break for lunch.

Bb will be working till quite late but not this morning. If the weather is not too bad we may go to Christchurch, where there is a Currys, to look at cookers.
Ours is gradually conking out, it's not worth repairing now.
I've had a good look online but would prefer to see them properly.

Ally, that is a long day but as Di says; sometimes it's worth those extra hours to know you're on top of things and don't have to worry going forwards.
Di, I get looking at cookers before buying, hope you find something nice and can then find it even cheaper online

I had a somewhat longer walk to work this morning - also posted on FB so apologies to those who've already seen. Charing Cross Station and surrounding roads are closed due to a gas leak - so I ended up going from Waterloo and heading into Covent Garden and then coming back down on myself towards the Strand so I could get to work. Suspect it'll be the same for hometime; but at least its some good exercise and it's not raining (yet).

Thick fog this morning Supposed to be hot and sunny

Back almost back to normal, can still feel it, being there, just a niggle, so will take it easy again today. I have plenty of books

Off to Ourique this afternoon, as Grumpy is to see his lung specialist. She very kindly has come here, rather than us going to Beja We'll go and see the car mechanic afterwards and also do the weekly shop.

Good morning everyone. It's been raining but just now it's starting to clear up and look quite bright. I'm off to Belfast for a hair appointment which I had to cancel last week. Now that the time restrictions are no longer there I'll have a browse round the shops on the way there, or the way back. Until now it's been a dash there and back as someone has to sit with George when I was out.

Hope you find a suitable cooker Di. Ria's idea of looking online is a good one as you often find the same thing cheaper.

A cold beer at the end of your long day Ally? Or will you just drop into bed?

Forgot I have my phone appointment today, so am stuck until she's phoned
Also forgot we need shopping, both fridge and freezer are looking bare, so cookers may have to wait for another day.

Good morning all, its dull here but quite mild and dry at the moment although it's rained overnight.

Billy's had his walk, Joe's gone to college and John's started on today's 'moan of the day'. Honestly, I'll be so glad when he's back at work next week - Jan, I'm sure he'd out-grump Grumpy!
We're wanting to get our drive extended and tarmacked as parking has become a nightmare around here lately now that all of the kids have grown up and got cars (and have boyfriends and girlfriends staying with cars). He's got a few quotes and has looked into if we need planning permission and thinks not but wanted to clarify it with the council. They want to charge £86 to tell him if he needs to apply for planning or not. Whether it's needed is, I think, all down to drainage (if a drive drains towards the footpath and road) and our drive and garden slopes away from the road and water runs into a drain which goes across the front of the garage so it shouldn't be needed according to the links that the council have sent to him. He's got in touch with them again for some reason and they've now mentioned that the fact it's a new build and some landscaping may need to be kept may be an issue (it's only taking a third of the side lawn, the rest will be left). He's now got all of the paperwork out from when we bought the house.
The ridiculous thing is though, if we were having it block paved or gravelled it's clear cut that planning permission isn't needed so he wouldn't have gone this deeply into it and would've been oblivious about any landscaping issue.
He'll have a bee in his bonnet about this all day now!
