Good Morning Friday

Postby Suff » 09 Feb 2018, 00:24

It is officially Friday now as it's past midnight. I'm writing this post now because I'm heading to France this weekend and in the morning I'll be rushing early.

I did not get everything done today as I left early to "pre position" my car at Balcombe. Why Balcombe? It's one stop after Three Bridges, gets me 2-3 hours down the road towards Newhaven on a Friday evening with only 55 minutes on the train and, best of all, the parking is £2.60 per day.

At the end of work tonight I'll hop on the train from Blackfriars (10 minute walk from work) and go to Balcombe. I sail from Newhaven at 11pm and I arrive home in France at about 1pm. I have a bunch of stuff to do then I'm leaving about 11am on Sunday and heading back, complete with my Kilt for the Kirkcaldy Ball and all my stuff in the back of the car that belongs there.

Tonight was a pain because I realised, when I got to work, that my credit card was not in my wallet. Rummaging around in my brain I realised that the last place I'd used it was Tesco on Wednesday night. I called about 10am and, lo and behold, it had been handed in. Restored my faith in people quite a bit. Having picked the card up after work, I then crossed the road to pick up an ebay parcel from Argos, down the road a bit to Halfords to get some car ramps and off to Balcombe. The only thing I want to say about that journey is that I finally arrived at the station, 12 minutes before my train, curtesy of Google Maps, having never seen a single sign for Balcombe.

I did get back before Midnight but now have to get some sleep and up at around 05:30 to get ready for work and travel.

Have a great day all. If I get the computer online on Saturday evening, I might look in.

We're such softies now Di that 14 degrees was positively Siberian for us!

Will try to catch that hairy bikers episode. Wonder if it was Nuestra Señora del Carmen feria. She is the saint of fishermen or if it was Torremolinos's yearly feria? :D

Blimey Suff, that's organised! Some places are like that for signs. The north of Bradford is (or was) like that. I was trying to get to Bingley once and remember thinking "Well it's got to be here somewhere!". I hadn't seen a roadsign for ages.

Cold here too Di, but the wind is fairly light. That's the only problem with this country, we have minimum four months of winter! 16 degrees and up would suit me just fine right noww.

Shopping later and this evening I am going to a leaving do from where I used to work. A few of my ex-colleagues have made it over the finishing line and have taken redundancy. Dave, whose do it is, was a lovely bloke and it will be nice to see him again.

Have a good day everyone.

Good Morning all,
Been awake since 4am listening to the wind and rain!!
Homeserve is coming between 12 and 6 to clear the drains.
The sewer is blocked again and we are getting fed up with it.
Don reckons the extra high tides we have had lately causes
some of it but i say it is because Southern Water don`t maintain
the drainage system like they should.
At some point i have to go shopping to get food in for dinner.
Son and family are coming on Sunday so will have to stock up
to feed 2 growing boys!!!

Good morning all, the weather doesn't know what to do here today. So far we've had rain, snow, sunshine and now we're on sleet.

I'm waiting for a couple of parcels so keeping myself busy within running distance of the front door. Amazon are bringing two of them and Royal Mail the third (even though it's an Amazon Prime order, but I selected nominated day instead of one day delivery so that's probably why).

It's Tom's 21st today and Billy's 6th Gotcha Day. No idea where the years are going to but I was talking to Ruth last night, her daughter Eve was 21 three days ago, and we agreed that it only feels like last week that we were meeting up every Thursday morning to take them both to Tumble Tots!

Oh no Kaz! :(

Suff, do you know roughly how many miles do you travel in a year? And how many hours do you spend travelling? Have a safe journey.

Have a good day all!
