She has colitis! Unrelated to the eye, and her op is now on hold while they sort out the colitis I will spare you all the details, but we had to rush her up to the vets this afternoon She's home, with meds to sort it out......She's getting pretty thin, hope she perks up soon!

I have lived the details Kaz, and could write the book

The vet (this after the third bout) advised latest thinking was to feed them through it.
I wasn't about to go through it again so instead starved Minnie for 24 hrs, then plain rice by the teaspoonful, increasing to a tablespoon.
Next day a breast fillet of chicken, chopped, same amount, with the rice.
Also really good/cheap is a pack of frozen pollock from tesco, dose as per chicken
Gradually increase.
For 5 years Minnie has been fed exclusively Burgess adult sensitive dry dog food, usually salmon and rice variety, sometimes Turkey, and has had no recurrences.
If we hear her stomach gurgling, we don't feed her, but that hasn't happened for ages.

Also feed 3 small meals, easier for the tum.
And NO treats, ever, especially no rawhide.
If that means Fraggle missing out, so be it.

Kaz has she been on antibiotics? They could have caused it to flare up, or some other medication?

The metacam for her eye might have caused this Shell. We hope so anyway, as that would make it temporary. Poor Peps looks so sorry for herself, and being perfectly frank smells terrible Poor little thing

Oh no, poor Pepper. Although I would be surprised if the short course of metacam would have caused that... admittedly cat not dog, but I had Molly on Metacam for a good few years for her arthritis.

Di's advise is spot on with the rice and chicken or pollock - fingers crossed you get it all sorted by doing this bland diet

Di' as a matter of interest, why no rawhide? Hadn't heard that one and would be good to pass on to Karl and Nadine if it is an issue. x

I just know we thought it was innocuous but it brought on the colitis Ria...
No treats at all is safer and kinder.
Minnie does have two winalot shapes biscuits (no supermarket brands ever, they change the recipes) twice a day.
She also has, and loves, bits of raw carrot if I'm chopping some.
