Afternoon all, we've had no more snow overnight and it's very misty today but the wind isn't half as bad as it was yesterday and it does look to be thawing around the edges.

We took Billy for a walk earlier and ended up walking 5 miles - I think John thought I was exaggerating yesterday about the depth of the snow in places until he got stuck in some over his knees on the common  We did a detour on the way home to see how the A34 was this morning and it was running fine, the estate roads are still in a poor way though with deep snow and drifts in places.

Joe's gone to meet friends now and I've just made rice pudding in my Instantpot so we'll have that shortly.

Think we'll have an afternoon of TV watching :D

Have a good day all!

Afternoon all :D

The snow's cleared a bit overnight, bit like yesterday morning before the afternoon's blizzard. Fingers crossed it continues to clear.

Good news about your bloods Jan.

Still not 100%, but gradually feeling better and the queasiness is gone thank goodness. Actually managed to eat a whole dinner last night, haven't managed that for well over a week, not like me at all.

Having another easy day.

Stay safe and warm xx

Good afternoon everyone, things are definitely improving, the wind is not so strong and the temperature has made it above freezing so there is a little bit of a thaw going on. I have been to the shops, everywhere is mucky now and the outside of our house is filthy. Got some meat and veg so that is food is sorted for the next couple of days.

Mr Osc woke up feeling extremely dizzy, tried to get up but had to go back to bed. He eventually managed to have a shower and is now in his chair. I have tablets for dizziness so have started him on them (I checked with the pharmacist) and he seems a little improved. (Why are some men so miserable when they are unwell   ). I am trying to do some h/work, but can't muster up much enthusiasm

Thoughts for Mr Osc ..... not a pleasant sensation; I hope he continues to improve.

It seems to have been thawing pretty rapidly today; some neighbours have been out in their cars, and you can see tufts of grass through the snow on the lawn. We haven't needed to venture out as we were well stocked up with milk, fruit and vegetables, but I may need to make a mercy dash to the supermarket tomorrow for Kit Kats. If I can't get the car out of the garage - haven't checked the state of the snowdrifts yet - I'll walk to the local Co-op.

The Town Council has apparently Activated the Emergency Plan. :o As far as I can see, this just means posting on Facebook to say that they have Activated the Emergency Plan, so please keep other posts to a minimum. I don't think anyone else quite knows what the Emergency Plan is. One of the first Facebook posts after that one was that the Café in the High Street was open for business .....
