That £50 is what they charge you if you turn up at the gate with a bag bigger than the cabin allowance. You can pay to check in a bigger bag, it's not as much as that and it's cheaper to do it at the time of booking. I know that when you book through the Ryanair website it gives you the option of doing that along with other extras such as selecting a seat or Priority boarding. Did you not have that option when you booked through the third party?

What I like about Ryanair is that we can fly to Dublin for a day for £20 (and have 2p change). It'd cost me £4.60 to get the bus to town and back, that's a round trip of 4 miles

Frank, if you want to know the true luggage price go direct to Ryanair. I've seen sites like skyscanner charge twice the baggage price on the booking.

Even when booking I book the flight on the comparison site then use the booking code to do the rest with the airline direct. Expedia is OK, but their luggage add on feature fails as often as it succeeds.

On this note we walked past the Antler luggage shop here in the Quays just now and I noticed how many "half sized" cases there seemed to be in the window! Not as small as the tidgy little one I got Mick years ago when he was travelling more for work, they are clearly aimed at the 10kg cabin allowance
