Had some brilliant holls there manxie in my teens watching the TTraces even went for our honeymoon flew from Liverpool 54years ago this week

Manxie, had a couple of great hols in the IoM in the latish 1960s.

The first, in Douglas, was on a steep hill overlooking the harbour. Good, but hard work with my brother's wheelchair.

The second was in Castletown on the south coast. Much flatter and, strangely, more to see for a small place. Stayed in a hostelry near the harbour and loved it. There are some great walks for those who like that sort of thing, and some great remote beaches in the local bays - Castletown and St Mary?

We have decided to bite the bullet and do something we thought we would leave until we retired, but no we are doing it now

DO NOT leave things until you retire - none of us knows what lies ahead, do them now. Scotland is beautiful, don't forget to visit St Andrews. Even if you are not interested in golf, it is a lovely town to visit and has a super beach for walking.
