Of course we were fit. In between this we would play soccer or cricket.
When my children went to school sports day endedwhen they were 14. No athletics, no nothing, just cramming for exams.
Yes, similar here. Primary school - basic gym in the local army cadet training hall, plus Kaz's Music and Movement classes, plus rounders in the local park in summer.
Secondary school - double PE once a week, one afternoon's compulsory House games (rugby, cricket, athletics (cross country - hated it!
) depending on the term, plus informal soccer most lunchtimes, plus tennis coaching sessions.
And of course - no parental lifts to school. My parents never had a car. So we walked mostly everywhere, to primary school, and it was two buses and a walk to secondary.
Our only real vices were sugary drinks and sweets from the corner shop - but that was out of pocket money (although I used to supplement this by rounding up all the empty beer bottles and soda syphons and returning them to the off licence for cash
). Interesting about this so-called plastic bottle bank scheme being rolled out - what goes around, comes around.
Plenty of milk and fresh fruit and vegetables at home. No KFC, McDonalds, Burger King, Dominoes ....
But fast-forward to today and, thinking about it, probably 75% of our food consumption is pre-packaged convenience meals ....
