Forgot to tell you about...

Postby Ally » 05 May 2018, 10:58

...the stupid thing I did yesterday!

I finished homework club as usual at 6.30 then, as always, walked the 5 minutes from the academy to one of the entrances at Mercadona to meet Don.

He was running a little late, it was very warm, so I walked across the road to sit in the shade on an iron seat.

After a couple of minutes I saw Don and went over to him.

I needed a couple of things from Mercadona, went in and got them.

Went to get my purse.....no bag!! :o :o

It's my Radley which crosses over me so no chance it had slipped from my shoulder.

It dawned on me I must have left it on the seat!

OMG! I left Don at the checkout, walked (nay ran) back to the bench....someone had very kindly looped my bag over the back of it! :o

A good 15 minutes must have passed between me leaving it and then realising I'd lost it.

Considering this bench is on one of our town's busiest thoroughfares it's fair to say I was overwhelmed that no one had lifted it.

It had everything in it...my NIE, phone, house keys, car keys, camera, purse, all my debit cards, you name it. And my favourite pink lippy!

I remember when I sat down that it was so warm and the bag was on my tummy so I removed it and placed it beside me....I still find it incredible I walked away and left it there!

It's catching... I wonder who is next!

The panic and depression... followed by the elation high is enough to send one off to a bottle of something a bit stronger than triple filtered voddy.

I am glad all was found, Ally, those peeps on the Iberian penninsula are good folks.

Yikes! Lucky indeed, although to be fair to us Brits my handbag was handed in to customer services in Asda a few years ago, when I stupidly left it hanging from the trolley handle!  :)

You were very lucky Ally. It’s nice to know there are honest people around.

I once found a wallet down the back of a couch in a parents room in a mall. Said wallet had at least a thousand dollars in it, double a weeks wages for most people. It had a bank card and the bank had a shop on the mall so figured it was safest with them, plus they would have contact information for them. I didn’t get to met them, but apparently they were very relieved. The bank was trying to get me to stay but with a scratchy 1&2 yo’s, it was past time to go home.

I found an iPhone, a very shiny new looking one, on the footpath near to our house as I walked Joe to school once. There was no security on it (it was back in the days before fingerprint scanning) so I found 'Mom' on the call list, rang and said I'd found a phone and was handing it in at the police station so could they let their son or daughter know where it was.

When I went to collect Joe that afternoon the mother of a girl in his class ran over and hugged me before handing me a huge bouquet of lilies! It was her phone (they lived near to us), she'd only just bought it and it was the first time that she'd had a brand new one and not someone else's cast off.

Looking for mum is always a good start. I did the same when I found a phone in the hospital waiting room, meant I got the name of the person, the patient name, so the reception staff were able to get a message to them, they were collecting their phone within 20 minutes. Now if only the appointments ran as efficiently.

It’s also surprising the number of people Jehoshaphat use 1234 as their pin. Hubby found an iPad up the road and that was their pin, so we were able to put it on our wifi and send an email to the owner as we could log into their email. He was very grateful when he picked it up (and probably a bit freaked out when he heard how easy it was for us)
