Potato Salad HELP

Postby miasmum » 03 Jul 2018, 09:30

I know this should be on the cookery board, but it might get seen here quicker.

I have offered to make a potato salad to take to friends tonight. Nice and simple I thought. Except I have just googled to see if there is anything extra to add and some recipes have salad cream, some mayo, some add lemon, some shallots, some spring onions some chives.

HELP

Can anyone give me a nice simple potato salad recipe before I go shopping

Personally I always mix mayo and salad cream; I like that flavour combination

Not sure about the added lemon juice but the chives / spring onions would definitely go very well. You can also fry up some bacon (cut quite small) and get that nice and crispy and add that to the mix.

PS: Waitrose do a really good ready made potato salad ;) - we often buy that instead of making and just add a bit of flavouring (we use Maggi liquid seasoning)

I'd also add some lightly fried garlic, teeny bits. And fresh peas for colour if not using chives/shallots.

Potato, spring onion and salad cream is what I do MM. Usually add just a touch of milk to the salad cream so it's not too gloopy, never had any complaints.

Mayo and chives would be my preference.

I add a little olive oil and wine vinegar before the mayo.
Always spring onions if we have them, would like chives but I can never grow them. And seasoning :)

Interesting though that we all seem to follow the same idea of keeping it simple with just mayo / salad cream and either spring onion or chives.... just tastes the best :D
