Morning all :D

Bright and sunny but a tad breezy here.

Up late, had a nice lie in. Off into town shortly, we need fruit and veg plus a few other bits.

Have a good day :D

Afternoon all, beautiful day again, it's lovely to organise washing and know you can leave it out overnight. We have a hosepipe ban in Dublin, doesn't affect us though. I am so sick of the doom and gloom merchants in the media, it's all "don't do this or that in the sun" - just let us enjoy it it, we get so many very poor summers here in Ireland.

I was on to our phone company seeing if we can get a better deal, as we have been loyal customers for a long time, usual nonsense about not talking to me because the bill is in Mr Osc's name. I pointed out that when we moved house, I handled the whole phone move thing as Mr Osc doesn't "do" phone calls, but to no avail  I am just about to go for a walk, then back to do some ironing. The roadworks outside are doing my head in

We've probably gone 4 weeks without significant rainfall, now. The water level in the river is still reasonable but I suspect they are doing a controlled release from the small dam up at the lake at Stourhead to keep some water flowing to preserve the fish and wildlife.

Received our ballot papers today, as we have a local vote down here on whether or not to accept the somewhat lengthy Gillingham Town Neighbourhood Plan. It won't stop them building new housing to raise the population from 12,000 to 17,000 in the next 12 years, but at least, if adopted, it will give us (locals) a say in where the houses will be built and stop the speculative builders (yes, Persimmon, like you) trying to develop areas which are totally unsuitable. As it is, I can see we'll be having increasing traffic problems around town (there's only one bridge across the railway at the moment) and we rather desperately need a new "ring road" on the south side of town with a second crossing. That is, I believe, in the master plan but some major developers (yes, Persimmon, like you, and you know you have form on this up in Shaftesbury), tend to put all the essential infrastructure work on the back burner ……. ;)

There's also some interesting aspirations in the Plan towards preserving and enlivening the town centre, and redeveloping the station into a bit of a transport hub, so all good stuff.

Afternoon all :)

Hot! Hot! Hot! Been into town, then up to see D -water bottle clasped at all times  We have been asked here not to use hosepipes, but otherwise the water pressure here is still good! It's always the same Ria, we live on an island surrounded by water, it rains nearly all the time, yet a few weeks of sunshine and the panic starts

Alas, a few more weeks and the school holidays start - that's guaranteed to bring lots of rain; it usually does :)

Wonder why the Atlantic side of Portugal is windier this year Jan?

We had a breeze today but it was that dry as a bone makes your nostrils dry type of breeze!
