Blue sky, sunshine. Our last day of really hot, down to 23 from 33c tomorrow, all change.
23 sounds rather nice, apparently rain at the weekend.

Craft for me this morning.
I did get to see L yesterday, she was so pleased. She's more or less stuck at home following some serious surgery and getting very bored.

Windy and cool this morning, which is lovely for us. Down 10C from yesterday

Not so good for the bombeiros, as the wind has picked up the fire again and it's now heading for Silves We heard planes going over at first light, so really hoping they can sort it out. A lot of people have been evacuated, buildings burnt.

We're off to Castro Verde this morning, hoping to get the cheques and then sort out delivery of the furniture

Will do the supermarket shopping on the way back, then Grumpy will be back at the floor tiling. Hopefully Steve will be up too, as there are a couple more things, electric wise he has to do.

Usual sort of Tuesday for me. I'm thinking of my friend J and her daughter L, who are facing the worst kind of heartbreaking day today. P!ease can I ask for some VV vibes, as they will need all the strength they can find. I'm about to post on the health board about it.

Good morning all, it's sunny here and I'm so looking forward to some cooler weather

Billy's had a long walk. He now has a favourite bench that we have to head for and when he gets there he jumps all over me while I attempt to pour out his drink of water. We had to turn back in one part of the woods though as a huge pine tree was blocking the path. It certainly wasn't there yesterday. I wonder if it's something to do with the ground being very dry, they usually only fall in strong winds and we've not had any of those in the last day.

The washing machine is now on and I'm waiting for my new phone to be delivered. I've had a good few years service out of my iPhone 5 but the battery life isn't what it was and I like to have a reliable phone when I'm out in remote places with Bill so it's time for an upgrade. I've gone for the iPhone 7, there was a good deal at John Lewis with the 8 but having read about it the back is made of glass as well as the screen, obviously, and I couldnt trust my clumsy self with it

Jan, I hope some progress can be made today with stopping these fires. It's awful

Morning all, cloudy here with the sun peeping through occasionally, and still warm. We had a great time last night at our former dance teacher's 60th birthday - saw people we hadn't seen for ages, and of course, there was dancing I am heading out shortly to do some shopping - how come I always have a huge list for Boots Also there is a good free gift offer with Clinique and I actually need some stuff, it doesn't always happen so neatly. I'll do a top up supermarket shop too, as we will be away for the weekend and won't need too much food. Mr Osc is just about to go and play golf.

Jan, I've been watching coverage of the fires, very frightening, also the ones in California We know someone whose son and family live in Lombok, where they have had two devastating earthquakes, thankfully the son and family are ok but the hotel they own is very badly damaged. So many terrible things happening

Osc, I rarely buy from Boots now. The service in our nearest one is terrible, you have to walk around the store several times before you find someone to serve you. From what I was told by a staff member, they don't have anyone come in to fully operate the tills until 10.30 so until then it's a matter of finding someone on the shop floor who is able to serve you.

The fires you're having are terrifying Jan, I do hope they can be stopped soon.

I'm a great fan of Boots Jo, I use No.7 skin care so with their loyalty card, the 3 for 2 offers and all the vouchers they regularly send me I save a fortune. We're lucky our local store here is a good size and always well staffed and if we want more choice it's a 10/15min drive to Westwood Cross where there's a huge store.

Just having brekkie, need to go into town, running out of salad and fruit. Expect I'll be sitting in the garden reading the kindle when we get back, too hot to do much else.
