Stupid parliament, stupid media.

Postby Workingman » 19 Dec 2018, 21:58

Despite pressing issues of national and international importance our parliament and media have been focussing on what Corbyn muttered under his breath. Anyone who did not know what happened and who was looking at the footage for the first time could not fail to see that he muttered 'stupid woman'

SO CHUFFING WHAT! Will it change the world? Will the sky fall in?

This fired off at 14:56 and seven ours later it is still the main point for discussion.

This all comes on the day that the EU revealed to the world its plans for a no deal Brexit and Sajid Javed published the government's white paper on its latest immigration Ponzi scheme.

No wonder the world looks on and wets itself laughing.

I couldn't agree more. As has been said in another thread, it's now just theatrics and pantomime.

What did we ever do to deserve this stupid, almost moronic set of politicians and media hacks?

Well for the politicians we voted for them. Instead of "dangerous" people like Farage.... Nuff said.

As for the EU moves on "No Deal", I'm not surprised that the press are talking about what Corbyn said. In essence the EU is saying that if we go with No Deal they'll create a temporary setup that fixes the flights, ensures that the banking continues and that a short term solution to cross border movement will be put in place. They'll also see to it that the ports don't stop working.

In short, Every Single Thing they said would come crashing down on us will be "resolved" in the short term by the EU themselves.

Even shorter? No Deal, with EU action, is supremely better than May's "Deal" that the EU "couldn't better".

Even shorter? They LIED their asses off to force us into a Bad Deal.

No wonder the press is not talking about it. They'd rather prattle on about what Corbyn muttered under his breath! Oh and how Gib is not covered by any EU action to fend of No Deal Brexit. Neither is the Bailiwick of Jersey but nobody is talking about that are they?? Spain is bumping its gums about joint government again, but they have about as much chance as Argentina has of getting the Falklands...

Nope, much better to prattle on about Corbyn. Otherwise people might get the "wrong" idea...

And now for the real version.

The EU is taking steps to protect itself from the effects of us, the UK, going for a 'no-deal' option. Why wouldn't they try to mitigate things? It's sensible. The fact that their decision also helps the UK is a bonus - for us.

However, every single thing they said would come crashing down on us will eventually happen if we end up with a 'no-deal'. Our own government has just confirmed that is the case as it will soon issue its own 'best steps' to business and us individuals in case of 'no-deal'.

Nowhere does the EU say that its action is better than May's deal, get that, May's deal. It actually makes clear that it wants the Withdrawal Bill to be concluded and signed so that none of the contingency plans take place.

And finally. The EU has not lied to force us into a bad deal. The bad deal is ours, the UK's, Leavers', or more correctly May's, as noted above. May came up with this garbage all on her ownsome, she even labelled it her Chequers Plan. The fact that she has not been able to sell it to MPs and parliament is down to her and has nothing whatsoever to do with the EU. She, through here own stubbornness, is the one who has lost 20 ministers, junior ministers and PPS. The EU didn't ring them up and tell them to go. The EU has played a straight bat, but that does not make it responsible for our failures, the ownership for those falls squarely with the UK - mainly the PM.

Nearly 3 am and the BBC and Sky are still banging on about Corbyn FCOL.

Damn this insomnia.

Well, the more PC you get the more easily offence is taken.
And Parliament is wincingly PC these days.

As for Corbyn he most certainly did mutter "stupid woman" and it's just silly for him to pretend that he didn't. Too much is being made of it. MrsC says it's a good job I'm not in Parliament having my lips read, because "stupid woman" is considerably more polite than my language when I view that collection on no marks.

Parliament can't on the one hand congratulate itself on being PC and then have a speaker like Bercow, against whom credible allegations of mysoginy and bullying have been made, without making itself look ridiculous. Which it is currently doing rather a good job of.

As for the media I think they're in the grip of some form of mania right now.

I know we have two different viewpoints on this. BUT, I still remember that the EU told us that what happened to the UK didn't matter to them. They dismissed warnings that locking out the UK would hurt them BADLY and carried on their Project Fear.

But when crunch time comes and it looks like their "EU centric" deal for the UK access to the EU market is really going to penalise them, suddenly they are willing to be reasonable and make sure that all their dire predictions don't come true. It was only WEEKS ago that Verhofstat and Junker were bumping their gums about all UK flights ceasing to the EU. Suddenly it's not a problem? Who LIED to whom? The EU were never going to do that no matter what the outcome, they were never going to put a hard border in Ireland, no matter what the outcome. Oh but they said they were. It is just project fear over and over and over again and we know what project fear is. It is deliberate lies in order to force the UK and the people of the UK, into doing what they want.

The only people you will see an analysis on this from are Farage and his kind. The problem here is that everyone, Government, EU, CBI, charity for dogs (yes I'm being sarcastic), said that Farage was barking mad and didn't know what he was talking about.

Yet, as every month goes on, Every Single Thing Farage said about the position the EU was in with the UK has come true. It is like falling domino's. He was right about how much we pay the EU and how much it costs to administrate the EU directives and laws. He was right about how much trade they do with us and how it would force them to come to the table if we just told them to take a hike, he was right about the total disrespect the EU showed the UK when they made their laws and regulations. He was right when he said that London was so important to them for money that they could not cut it off (he should know he was a trader once).

So when the EU caves and starts making plans to protect themselves from the very REAL and present danger of the EU faltering by losing the UK market, what do we hear?

Corbyn called May a Stupid Woman.

And what else should I expect???

Haven't we see so much project fear that we should be shouting from the rooftops "You Lied"? Apparently not. Apparently we should be more interested in what Corbyn was muttering under his breath. Given that his sentiment was only what 70% of the country is currently thinking, we should be able to get Over it pretty quickly.

But Corbyn has given the press a Wonderful excuse to bury some extremely bad news for Remain and the Remain leaning press is making a field day of it.

I have always had a lot of respect for Nigel Farage regarding his knowledge of the workings of the EU. What he doesn't know isn't worth bothering about. I wish he had been able to offer some input into the negotiations or even behind the scenes help. But it doesn't do to be hobnobbing with the enemy! :)
