Well done. Take a bow. I do not care any more.

If you don't care any more, does that mean that you will stop being so disrespectful to those of us
whom you have labled Brexthicks? That isn't the sort of remarks I expect to read on Vocal Voices.

Aggers, may I politely suggest that you take a trip to the comments sections of the DM, Express, Sun and Telegraph to see what we Remainers are called by your fellow Brexit-at-all-costs supporters.

I am not a traitor to my country, nor a quisling, nor an appeaser, but that is how many on your side wish to paint me and my fellow Remainers.

We are the true patriots, concerned only for what is best for our country's future.

To me your side is living in the Colonial past. It is gone, let it go.

When it turns out to be the unmitigated disaster, and it will, it will be the UK on its own. There will be no cavalry charging in to save us. We might beg to be let back in, but we will be at the back of the queue. And if they do let us back it really will be on the EU's terms - no rebate, no opt-outs, no veto, join Schengen, join the €.

So, we might be headed for a partial shutdown, à la the US. This is where Brexit has brought us.

MPs, quite rightly, want oversight of the government's financial powers in the event of a no-deal Brexit. This is not a Remainer issue, it is cross-party and cross-Brexit, even some of the government's own ministers support it. This is the reality of Brexit.

We also learn that Westminster police are having to protect our elected representatives from Brexit thugs outside the Houses of Parliament. Why is this? Brexit is apparently more popular than sliced bread and is going along as unplanned for, so what do these brain donors fear?

Could it be that turning our backs on our closet friends and neighbours and biggest trading partners is a crock of sh1t and that the majority have woken up to the fact and do not want to go ahead with it?

I agree totally with you WM. However if you go to the comments section of the Remain supporting websites you will find the Brexiteers called everything from Nazi Fascists to deviants of every kind. The snowflake response, can't cope with dissenting views, just try and destroy the credibility of the person with the view, are all over the Remain media and social and organised.

It is more toxic than an active Nuclear power station which just blew up. It wasn't always that bad but when the Remainers threw their toys out of the pram and started on a total rampage, because someone stole their dummy, the whole thing turned into a war rather than a debate. Leavers have upped the ante and responded adding to the toxicity.

Please don't tell me that a large subset of Remainers are not acting like spoilt children having a tantrum because someone took their favourite toy away; because all the evidence is there. Add to that the fact that most Leave voters have been through at least one of these votes, lost and accepted the result without descending into denial and anger and we are where we are.

In order to have trading partners, Plural, there needs to be give and take. On the EU side it is all take by the EU and all give by the UK. The UK has a trade surplus with the US and is our Largest export partner! Why not forget that and keep trading with our "partners". Once we get out of the EU our trade balance with the US will even out as we remove the blocks to US trade that the EU puts in place.

Please, if we're going to have a discussion about this don't twist the whole thing. Germany is the biggest exporter to the UK, By FAR. Germany is NOT our friend or there would be a trilateral summit before each EU summit. France is also a Huge exporter to the UK. France is NOT a friend. Neigbour, yes, Friend to Scotland, yes, Friend to the UK, Not a bit of it.

Our Friends in the EU are the Scandinavian countries and a large subset of the Netherlands through the monarchy. The rest of the original? Ireland is a neighbour and a large trading partner (for Ireland), but whilst we may be companiable, the UK and the Republic of Ireland are not "friends" in the way you allude. As for the rest? Fair weather friends with both political and social ideology which does not match the UK.

The whole reason that people voted to leave the EU is because they are not only not "friends", they are also not even trying to act like "friends".

So if turning our backs on a bunch of self serving egomaniacal wannabees is a bad thing, god help us with what a good thing is.

You see this is what enrages the Leave crowd. "Well it would all be so good if you had just shut up and left things well alone". To which the Leaver demands "define so good". Because, if you submit it to a totally honest analysis, "so good" is just not so bad that people can't stand it any more. It is not "good" in any way, shape or form. The only problem with what we are doing is that getting out of "not quite bad enough yet" is really rather painful. But those who support getting out understand that "So Good" can actually be good and not this miserable form of "not quite so bad" we have been living with.

And that, my Remain friends, is what the ordinary John and Jane have been force fed by hardline Brexiters (formally EU haters) these last 45 years or so.

The principle is that if falsehoods are told often enough they take on an element of truth. They do not have to be outright lies, as those can be challenged with facts, but if they only hint at perceived injustices those perceptions become real. The door is then open for more of the same until an ideology exists.

Today's ideology is: EU Bad - Brexit Good. For those who wish to buy in it is plain and simple to understand without question.

I haven't changed my mind and I still want Brexit but the turmoil it is causing has become very bitter. I put my hands over my ears whenever Anna Soubry pops up on the television, but what a disgrace it was to hear the way she was heckled and insulted because she holds a certain view. Bullies on both sides should be ashamed of themselves, they are bringing our country into disrepute.
