Brum 2019.

Postby Workingman » 29 Jan 2019, 11:06

Are we doing it this year? Same format as last year? Will anyone outside the hard core turn up?

Answers have to be 'Yes', Yes' and 'Who knows, but they would be most welcome'.

I would love to come as I went to the big femail meets about 15 of them back in the day when I had the shop and was making good money. But now it needs to be a three day trip minimum from here so 4 nights accommodation plus the return air fare £200 each for the wife and myself so it will work out about about £600 for us both plus spends and meals. I bet I would see little change from £1k by the time we were home again

Believe me I would be there if we could make it a lot cheaper, if we flew over to Brum we could get 2 weeks abroad self catering in the sun for the cost of the meet, and as pensioners it is a big extravagance we really can't afford.

Because of the costs in getting off the island we haven't had a break away for 4 years now we were hoping to get away in February/March to the sun but so far not finding much affordable.

You can rest assured if I could I would be there but I will be there in spirit at least if nothing more.

Manxie it is such a shame that the IoM to Birmingham route is not on Brianair or SqueezyJet. There are scheduled flights in by 11:00 and out at 21:00, which are roughly the times we meet so no need for a stopover, but they are.... wait for it.....£464 each!

Best just to stay home and have a few beers with us on a 'virtual' visit. It's what Jan does from Portugal. :D

We will toast you all as the day goes on.

I'll certainly be there, if I'm still here and capable.

Will someone stop me from ordering a fish finger sandwich this time please, providing it's on the menu that is. That's my go to lunch order whenever I see it and I need to shake things up a bit
