The problem is the same as it has always been. The country is split on EU membership but the political class is all for it.
So they have no intention of honouring the result of the 2016 referendum, although they have repeatedly promised to.

They can talk of crashing out, hard brexit, soft brexit, backstops, Norway or whatever, but we aren't going to be allowed to leave.

And then after the years of lying and denying, politicians are going to say that it is now time to come together and heal the country. Really?

Good luck with that, because the way that they have behaved has guaranteed that the bitterness and bad feeling is going to last for decades.

If I ever see that little rodent Yvette Cooper on telly one more time, saying that of course, she isn't trying to stop Brexit, but... I swear I'll put the tv screen through.

The worst thing of all is that they think that we are all too stupid to see what they are doing!

Cromwell it is difficult to disagree with your overall sentiment. It is obvious that majority of MPs do not want us to leave, but I would add: "In the present circumstances". These people, led by Cameron and May, have made such a mess of things that we have ended up with your menu of options, none of which have a majority from any quarter. There are divisions within divisions so healing those will take a lot of very hard work.

As things stand we have a Bill going through the Lords requiring the PM to table her own motion seeking MPs’ approval for an extension of A50 to a date of her choosing. The fact that it even exists has forced May to seek and extension to June 30th. The response from the EU (Tusk) is to offer an extension (flextension) to some time in 2020. Talk about making things up on the hoof!

In response to that the ERG, through Rees-Mogg, has stated that UK MEPs could veto the EU budget and cause problems with the running of EU business. How very adult! What a brilliant way to make friends and influence people - not!

I am all for revoking A50, with the proviso that it is to allow for a re-set of the whole procedure so that a well planned and detailed vision of "Leave" can be formulated and taken forward. We have already done enough damage to EU / UK relations that to remain "as is" is not an option, IMHO. Many of the 27 will not now trust us to be willing members and that will make alliances difficult if not impossible to achieve.
