WhatsApp help please.

Postby Workingman » 26 Apr 2019, 13:30

Becky came home from Dubai over Easter and put WhatsApp on my phone. So far so good.

Today I downloaded WhatsApp for PC and installed it.
Fine.

Well not fine. When I open WA on my phone a whole bunch of you are there except Becky, she's gone! Yet when I open WA on my laptop none of you are there! I have tried the WA web service on Chrome, Opera and Edge with the same result. The QR reader works as I use it quite a lot but my contacts remains empty. Pairing with Bluetooth does nothing.

An Internet search has proved fruitless so I am hoping someone here can help. Thanks in advance.

It is all a bit of a mystery.

When Becky put it on my phone she contacted me from her phone all of 3 feet away and we had a chat. When it closed and was opened again she was the only one there so we knew it worked.

Today I put it on the PC because 1. it is on 24/7 and 2. it has a proper keyboard. When it fired up on the PC it asked me to read the QR code, which I did. Then the phone fired up with a WA notification and when I went in a whole bunch of my phone / SIM contacts who are on WA were there, that's all of them except the one I really want - Becky. I have checked to see if she is in another group, but no. I have tried adding her manually using an old mobile number long defunct but that does not work either.

It looks like I am going to have to ring her corporate Dubai number and get her to add me from over there. WhatsApp - WhatAfaff.

hmm that is very odd Frank. Admittedly I didn't realise you could get WhatsApp for PC so wondering if to see people on your PC WhatsApp they need it downloaded on a PC / laptop as well and same for phone, ie phone sees phone contacts only and laptop sees laptop contacts only?

I've just sent you a test message to see if maybe one needs to send you a message so your laptop knows to add a contact?

I never knew you could get WhatsApp on the laptop, thought it was only for phones! I use it lots, I rarely text now and even had a long voice chat with my friend in NZ the other day.
