The Express says Hunt Smashing Boris at the polls.

Postby Suff » 29 Jun 2019, 13:46

As we see here.

But wait a second. Who exactly were YouGov polling?

Yep, you've got it, Everyone.

Well in this competition Everyone doesn't count. So we have to go to the Sun to find out the full story.

Yes Hunt may be the favourite of the country by some 12%, but Boris is the Tory voters favourite by some 9%. Not unassailable by any means.

Until we go to the voting intentions of the Tory party members. The only people who count.

There he has more than 100% lead, 66% to 30%.

Makes you wonder what the Express is doing? Perhaps they really want Farage!

Ah yes, with the Tories Johnson is ahead of Hunt 2:1 at present.

But here's the twist...

The Antediluvian Order of Little Englanders is about 160,000 strong and with only about 100,000 of them supporting Johnson.

On the other side we will have a general election, maybe sooner rather than later, and with the ever so lightly dismissed "everyone" at 46.8 million strong they are against Johnson 4:3: they will have their say. Another stat is that only 23% of "everyone" intends to vote for the Tories.

Will the AOLEs eventually take heed.... ?

Then there are the no-confidence votes: plural... Thatcher used them effectively to bring down Callaghan. Watch this space.

Johnson might be good for a laugh on HIGNFY, but his track record in government is abysmal.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to the Daily Express.
Every year they have the headline "Britain to suffer arctic winter - worst on record".
And every year they are wrong.
Last week they had the Brexit Party winning the next election, this week it's the LibDems.
Utter rubbish, most of it.

There is an election of a Conservative party leader going on. Polling non Tories is a waste of space and polling the voting intentions of Tories without a vote is a waste of space. It is like polling EU citizens on how they will vote in A UK general election. They don't count.

Getting all offended because your opinion doesn't matter, because you have no vote in an election, serves nothing and doesn't make a compelling case to those who do have a vote.

I'll be as offended as I like, thanks! We should all be offended by this fiasco, if we give a damn about our country!

Who is offended? The other 46.6 million of us who do get a different vote at a different time and who are not Tories might just, potentially. perhaps, possibly or definitely vote to destroy a Johnson lead party are not offended. Have all you AOLEs thought of that?

You very few Little Englanders amongst us might get to vote on your tiny club's secretary, but we massive number of other voters get to decide if your parish council gets a say in what we do.

It is us, the overwhelming majority, who will eventually decide who rules us. Johnson will not be the one.

Go vote, knock yourself out. Get Johnson in on a landslide and that will kill the Tories. You can all then slink off and join loser Nige, where you belong....

Seven tries to become an MP and all failed. Now that's what I call a loser. ;)

Looking at it that way, dead right.
But if you look at it in terms of being able to nudge politics in the way you want it to go Farage has been very successful. Europe was pretty much a dead issue before Farage came along.
