It certainly brings you up short when you get a letter telling you that you have to renew your driving licence including getting a medical cert, because you are turning 70

At the moment, Osc, we have to renew our licences at 70, but we do not have to get a medical certificate, we have to self-certify.

However, I believe that there are long-term moves to change this, so we will have to get an eyesight certificate at 70 in future.

I am now retired, but I would put myself up against any thirty or forty something when it comes to driving awareness. Sure, test my eyesight and reflexes, but do it for everyone. Most fatal accidents are caused by those under 40, maybe we should take them off the roads to make them safer.

We're having to renew Grumpy's next month, as it's done every 2 years after 70.

The medical is a bit of a laugh, the doctor asked if we had any diseases and did we were glasses for driving. Well, I obviously do, but Grumpy doesn't.

And that was it

Maybe, as he gets older, it might be more rigorous. And knowing the way the Portuguese work, the next time will be different - again.

I'm okay until I'm 65, then again at 70.

I stopped driving when I reached the age of ninety, not because of any problem driving, but I knew that if I did
have an accident they would say that I shouldn't be driving at that age. The money we save by not having a car
enables us to afford plenty of outings, so we are both quite happy being car-less.

I have crows, sparrows, two doves etc and our resident robin coming for breakfast.. a young bald headed crow comes for his/her feeds daily . The full tray is virtually cleared and the new birds along with the old get their fills as the tray is replenished..
