Arrests are made.

A police van pulled up and officers entered a flat opposite to much shouting and foul language. A cop car also stopped round the corner and four officers got out and went to the side and back of the block but stayed unseen from the inside. A male and female have been taken away.

The couple only moved in a few months ago and there are rumours that they could have been 'dealing'. The people below say that the atmosphere since they moved in has been sweetly 'herbal' esp when their (those taken away)windows are not open to get in fresh air.

Sign of the times …..

We had the same at the house opposite us when we lived in Birmingham. Early morning police raid, the neighbours initially ignored the police demands and only caved in when the cops gave them 30 seconds to come out or a forced entry via rammer!

In the road, we had speculated was it a cannabis factory (curtains always drawn) or a pop-up brothel (taxis coming and going late at night). In the end, when the cops opened their garage door, we realised it was "receiving stolen goods"

It's awful isn't it, yet seems such a common occurrence now.

We had new neighbours a couple of years ago. We were, and still are, good friends with the family who sold them the house and when they were going through the selling process our friends said that they were a nice couple. However M and J hit a snag with the house that they were buying and said that their buyer got rather nasty about the delay (exchange was being delayed by 6 more weeks) as he needed this house asap and M & J ended up short term renting. The house is at the end of the cul de sac but has a little driveway to it and is pretty much hidden from view.

Anyway, the house was £400,000 and they arrived with a 16 year old Peugeot and a battered old transit van. Within a couple of months they'd acquired a brand new Mercedes works van and she was driving around in an £80,000 BMW. They have frequent visitors coming and going, the police have been a couple of times (Joe texted me when we were in NY last year to say that there was a police riot van there), the BMW was stolen off the drive and now there's a young bloke regularly walking around to there who looks like your typical drug user.
You can smell weed coming from cars which are going there as they drive around the close.

Crumbs! I thought that with VV being such a bijou site it would be "OMG, thank goodness that doesn't happen round here! Seems I was wrong.

The couple returned, opened every window in the flat then drove off again. I imagine a To Let sign will be going up in the near future. :D

The local Tenant's Association is trying to persuade absent BTL landlords of some flats to drop using the most used (useless) letting agent because it does not appear to filter prospective tenants. Anyone who turns up gets a go regardless of whether they fit in or not - like the couple above.

Crikey no WM.
MrsC's aunts and uncles live in Streethouse, a road with houses on either side of it. Over the road are people who grow and sell cannabis from their house. The smell can be quite overpowering.
Our son in law arrested a Polish geezer the other day. When they searched his house in Featherstone it was rammed with cannabis plants. It took them a whole shift to remove them and he ended up with a headache from the smell. There are two parks near us and discarded drugs paraphernalia have been found in both.
There's no political will to stop it.
